on the subject of living "check to check" in another thread i decided to make one about this.
I am single and living alone in a 1 bedroom apt here in vegas. i COULD find cheaper living but i dont want to sacrafice my safety by living in a "cheaper" area of town... (there are some pretty bad areas)
My current budget looks like this:
$920 rent
$35 trash/water/sewage
$50'ish electricity (averaged between winter and summer)
$30 on house gas
$25 on car gas
$110 car ins.
$85 cell phone
$80 cable/internet/house phone
$30 on drycleaning
$20 haircut
$160 medication
$100 food
and that leaves me with about $600 left to tinker with... (im pretty sure i left out something major there b/c i didnt think i had that much left over...)
what about you guys?

well we have an AMAZING employee dining room here at Caesars.. its like a huge buffet where they have a grill with a dude who will make you whatever you want, as well as 3 normal buffet style sections of food... and a sandwich area, and a pasta area, and a salad area and a burger area..... and a carving station with prime rib/turkey/pork (whichever they r serving that day)....
and in the morning they have fresh bagels and the guy at the grill makes some MEAN omlets....
so basically i only eat one meal a day at home, if that... the only time i actually cook is on the weekends

We bring home $4442.00 monthly (fiancé has a half-time salary not the best deal for her.), have $3149.11 in monthly expenses (many of which will go away because their some of our doubled separate expenses [car insurance, cell phones, a storage unit for extra furniture that will no longer be needed when our roommate moves out.])
With all that said, we net +$1292.89 monthly. We're moving to a cheaper apartment (that's not much smaller and much closer to work = fewer tolls) in June so we should be doing better.

still in high school living at home with mom/sister
every two weeks:
80 gas(god damn 2mile trips to work/.5 miles to school is really killing my gas mileage)
50 food(mom barely cooks since we are all always at work)
75 cable/internet
100 random stuff like tools for work and shit like that.
savings: alot.

bring in about 1000 a month
spend about 300 on gas ( 60 mile round trip mon-fri, deliver pizza on weekends)
180 on insurance
60 on phone
100 on food
75 on tobacco
100 on alcohol
and another 100 on random bullshit
ill save about 200 on average every month
i don't really work on a monthly basis. some of my bills are paid every 6 months. sometimes i don't make a check for 6 months. it's weird.

I wouldn't take out a loan if I were you. You're always going to have bills to pay. You might want to think about getting a cheaper car and cooking at home more often.

i always pay myself before anyone else. Depending on how many days ive worked that particular week, every 2 weeks ill usually put 2k in savings, 1000-1,600 in checking to pay out various bills and be left w/ 800 after those bills have been paid. Repeat next pay period. If you can pay yourself (ie savings) before anyone else, you'll be ahead of the 8 ball

Do you have alot of tickets/wrecks or something? I'm 23/male and pay $120 a month for full coverage on a 06 350z through State Farm. You might want to call around for other quotes.

Yeah, I'm planning on calling around again in a few months just to check up w/ the other companies and also going to call State Farm to see about anymore discounts they can give me. Never hurts.

After paying rent, insurance, car note and gas I have a little over 800 bucks to play with a month. Like Din said though, depending on how much I drink that month, I'm usually left with 2 bills or so lol. I have a horrible time realizing what my priorites are but I got time to fix that stuff. Luckily I been trying to stay home lately since I wanna get back into fixing my ride up.
