i have an 05 6.0L GTO. I am seriously contemplating turbocharging this thing and keeping it my daily. is this a feasible goal and would you suggest a twin turbo setup or a larger single. I think i would have better throttle response and driveability with a smaller twin setup but that's just my .02. let me know your suggestions and a ballpark figure on price. I plan to keep the internals of the motor stock so i probably would have to keep boost between 7-10 lbs. thanks in advance

For a daily driver, we'd suggest on the of the STS kits. We just installed one on a late model mustang, and the fit and quality is awesome.
For all the STS goodies, you're looking at 6494, that includes the kit (turbo, piping, plumbing, etc) and their tuning and fuel package (injectors, fuel pump, etc.) Get with Jack or Kenny if you're interested, they may be able to cut you a deal. :)
STS claims ~470 at the wheels with this setup, at 5psi. 500+ at 7psi.
As far as driveability goes, I prefer a setup where I can drive around all day long and never hit boost, unless I want to hit boost. So I prefer a slightly larger turbo. Could be twins, could be a single, just as long as it's big enough not to spool every time I tap the throttle. That's just my opinion and taste.

For that much money i'd be looking to make around 550 to the wheels. is this a feasible goal? If i had a turbocharged 6.0L V8 and only made 470 to the wheels i would be embarassed. granted i could probably run it that way until i sold the car (and never have any issues) but i really want some good power. thanks for the input

You said you wanted to run 7-10 psi, at 7psi that kit makes ~520. at 10psi, you should be above 550.
We're also talking about their maps, which are probably pretty conservative. A custom tune could yield more power at lower boost.

yeah but could the motor stay together reliably at 10 psi, that is the question. i'm sure i could net 550 but for how long? should i build the motor or chance it?

ls2gto.com if your not on there try it out, alot of goat owners on there are running the sts tt kit making high power, my buddy has a tt ls1 goat on stock internals and he put down 571rwhp so i tihnk the ls2 should hold up fine, if you want to keep it your dd just get a good cam/head setup and save yourself a little cash, and alot of headaches

Hey man, what's up (this is Jack). The STS kits do very well on the the GTO's as mentioned above and your goal is definitely within reach, especially if you got a custom tune. As for your daily drivability, under normal driving conditions, the kit can actually increase your gas mileage up to 5mpg because it improves the efficiency of the engine, something that cams and heads can't claim (not that they are bad :))
If you change your mind, feel free to give me a call and I can certainly hook you up. Thanks!

even if i have an automatic trans? that would be awesome b/c it doesn't get much better than 17.5mpg around town and 21 on the highway. my buddy has the efi live setup and access to a dyno so i could probably lean out the mixture to a safe 11.5:1 ratio and pick up some decent power (if it's running rich like they say). the input is appreciated.

Yes sir, even with automatic trans.

Yep, we give you before and after dyno sheets so you'll know exactly how much power you made before and after the install.

i am really contemplating getting the sts kit but i've heard they have had oiling issues. my buddy bought an sts kit for his 05 vette and had oiling problems. has this been resolved?

We haven't had any problems with the kits that We've installed. All the STS kits come with a patented oiling system, that has a warning system in the event of a failure.
