The engine is actually pretty well set up for turbos...that's why there are so many kits out there. The original engine for the Miata was actually first used in a turbo 323, I believe. The compression is a bit high for tons of boost, but there are a lot of people running 12-15psi, getting 240rwhp, without any additional beefing. We're running close to those numbers on a 2001 block with a machined 99 head. Lots of suspension mods, but no other engine work.

As long as you don't advance the timing too far (doh!) it'll run fine for a long time.

The only problem is putting the power down...you really have to modulate the throttle in the car. With the light weight + high hp, you get tire spin like crazy in 1st and 2nd, especially if you're on street tires. :) Sure is fun though!!

be cool to see someone drop a rotory in a miata.

It would be nice power, but the engine won't fit! The layout and mating to the tranny would require the engine to sit something like 6-8 inches above the current hood line.

damnit! that would be fat. there is a guy up here in the woodlands with a turbo miata, his shit is quick, i rode aroudn with him and it didn't take him long to end third at 99 and at 110, the rear end slid out but was a fun run. i love that car.

EEEPPPP... rear end sliding out... scary thought at 100 mph+.... Miata's are rival of the MR2... don't you think McFly?

the new mr-S vs the miata... yes...
SW20 vs fiero (kinda) SW20 was marketed as the cheap mans ferrari, absolutely killed the fiero in performance..
AW11 unmatched thats how i see it
