Their warranty is not as good as some US brands w/ the lifetime warranty.
Still I have always love the Tibby's and think they are good looking cars that were just lacking the wrong engine/drivetrain. I think 40 for a V8 may be quite steep, but then again, we will have to see how everything pans out. When you consider you can get a G37 for 40 *330 hp* the Tibby will have to have some decent numbers to compete.
It does look like a G/Solara/Altama coupe all mixed together... Does anyone remember the spy shots a while back... I almost think those are better than these "renditions"

seeing as how their current v6 is 180hp, I wouldn't be surprised if their v8 option is only 260hp. either way, hyundai is takin a huge leap with a 40k car such as this. for 40k, it better be at least 400hp. I don't think anyone will seriously consider this car if it isn't anything but great for that price.

Chrysler & dodge warranty is for the first owner only and non sports models.
So for the sports models this will have better warranty. I like it but hope the price is not that high. Would rather get a g, s2k, or evo. Has potential but we will see how it ends up. It was suppose to take the genesis motor, not sure if its the same now.

the 3.8 v6 makes 260, v8 is 300+hp. in the "genesis" sedan, supposedly around 380. But 40k is rediculous, in my opinion i think the tiburon will be competing with the mustang in terms of price and power.

i was referring to the v6 tiburon. similar motor to this one -

the new coupe has 172 in a 2.7L v6. it was 180 but SAE changes... that was where my comment was directed.

Here's some interesting information about Hyundai's Turbo 4. It's essentially a 4g63.
The turbo-4 could prove to have a lot of potential depending on how close Hyundai has kept the design of the Beta to the old 4G63. You have to remember that Hyundai didn't use to make their own motors, they used Mitsubishi motors in their older cars including the 4G63 and GC4S. Looking at the specifications and deisign of current motors you can see that the Hyundai Beta engine resembles an inverse oriented version of the older 4G63. Even the V6 Delta that powers the current Tiburon is a knockoff of the 6G72 found in 3KGT's.
That being said 215hp is not hard to attain out of a 4G63 given Hyundai's record for being behind the game in respects to technology. If you are comparing the Beta to the current 4G63 from the Evo you have to remember that the Evo motor has many things that allow it to create that ammount of power out of that motor. One of the biggest being the twin scroll 16g turbo. The 4G63's from the old DSM's had a 7.8:1 CR, 14b turbo (manual tranny), restrictive exhaust, restrictive intake, and boost limited to around 8psi. I would imagine that for Hyundai to offer a car for $19k they would need to have a similar price-cutting setup.

the 2.7 v6 is the oldest engine currently in use in hyundai's line up and the only one without cvvt. the 3.8 v6 which they speak of is already a healthy 263 hp. I seriously doubt that this will run near 40k considering you can get a loaded out vera cruz (biggest suv) for just over 35

Depends on the weight of the car. if its only 3k lbs, 260 hp won't be that bad. They are making a entry level sports car, not a vette killer.

New Tiburon Forum member anthony718 just posted some pics of the new Hyundai Coupe totally undisguised. Saying he got the pics from "a friend," he details how the photos came from a market research event back in June. According to the info given, the Coupe would have two engine options, a 2.0L turbo with 215HP and 217 ft-lbs of torque, or a 3.8LV6 with 300HP and 280 ft-lbs. Prices were given as $19,900 for the 4 or $25,900 for the V6. While we have good reason to believe there will be a genuine V8 in the engine bay when we see the car in LA next week, this event was held back in June and changes could have been made since that time.
Hyundai is pitching this new Genesis Coupe as a Mustang fighter, so it's no surprise to see the Coupe sitting next to the Ford in these photos. We've discussed this 2009 model Hyundai quite a bit and now that we have some clear pics, it really looks like it's been worth the wait. Attractive in an Accord or G37 Coupe kind of way, the RWD Korean should make a splash in the sports/GT market when it reaches dealers next year. The looks and specs seem to indicate a worthy competitor, with rumored features like iPod integration in the center console, Bluetooth with the stock head deck, a sunroof, limited slip and possibly even a Brembo brake upgrade. We'll have more details about the car after we see it at the LA Auto Show, but for now, check out the best pics in our gallery below.
