and i'm tired of ignorant idiots like you making posts like this. learn how to spell before you come with a post as retarded as this one. and as i read my original post. nowhere do i see myself saying the gtr is "better". i simply said it was faster around a certain track. i can't argue as to which car is better as i can't afford either. there is no arguement in my post and it is VERY relevant.

Zac: here you go bro. a published tested time that shows the gtr quicker then the z06. i will say i was wrong on 7-8 seconds though as 7:38 is only 3-4 seconds off the c6 z06's best time.

My sincerest apologies, I didn't realize that my general post would cause your menstrual period to begin... Originally, it wasn't aimed at you.. it was a general statement with your quote highlighted for emphasis.Arguing back and forth about a car that has yet to be realeased is completley pointless, this thread is about the "blue devil" and pictures of it.. nothing about the GTR; therefore you post is irrelevant.

well as you said this is the internet and it is extremely hard to know what a person is specifically trying to say in posts a lot of times. so my apologies for the harshness of my post. and i can agree argueing about vehicles that haven't been released (as neither a gtr or zr1 has) is irrelavant. but as i stated i would like to see where the zr1 ranks when its official laps are done. i'm a big corvette fan and am hoping for the best for it.

what a ignorant little bag. since when do you rank cars because of their drivetrain? it can be a fwd GT-R, if its still aiming for the porsche 911 and its $80k, it is in the same class. nissan could goof it up huh? good one guy.

ok this is the last post imma make in this thread so it doesnt get thrown too far off topic.

911 turbo as of 2007 is 480bhp/460 ftlbs of tq AWD. (which from what I remember the gt-r was aiming for)

the gtr is going to be(from the nissan website)480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm and AWD.

the ZR1 is supposdly going to be rated at 650bhp RWD.

THIS IS MY OPNION ONLY AS WAS MY LAST POST!

As far as them being in the same class I dont believe so one would be a muscle class the other would be import.

And we still dont know how well the gt-r is going to turn out as its still in test phase. it could be a raelly awesome weekend car but may not be able to hold up to daily driving. Its a possibilty it could be a nother Viper and after 50k miles it craps out(seriously how many high milage vipers do you see?) all i'm saying is WE DONT KNOW YET.

So if you want to get your panties in a bunch over this go ahead but that was just my opnion and i'm done with this thread so it wont get too far off topic ill just :lurk: like I usually do.

Also with that much power being put out no car manufacturer in their right mind would make a fwd car with that much power. people with fwd cars putting out that much power will tell you its difficult to get tracation in day to day driving which is why they are usually track cars, which is why nissan is going with (copied from nissan website again) an ATTESA ET-S All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with independent rear-mounted transaxle integrating transmission, differential and AWD transfer case

we will see if it can hold the GTR.

Nissan is setting up its GT-R fans for a big failure when the production car comes out. Given the GT-R's weight and HP, its time around the ring just doesn't correlate with other cars putting up similar times.

Yes, there's more to lap times other than HP and weight, but within this class of cars and lap times, it is presumed that suspension geometry and handling is superb.

Even if the GT-Rs handing and AWD system is on another level, I still don't think that will account for the time difference. If you look at the other cars putting up similar times, one must question whether another other variable has to come into play, whether that be tires, a modded engine or whatever else.

Just look at the Carrera GT. The Carrera weighs 3043lbs and has 605bhp and 435 lb-ft of torque yet can only muster a 7:32 around the Nurburgring. Meanwhile the Nissan GT-R weighs in at 3,836 lbs and produces 473hp and 434 lb-ft of torque, but is only 6 second off the Carrera's pace. Something just doesn't add up. Which means...

1. The car is making more power than 475hp and is modded.
2. The car has a lower weight than 3850lbs and is stripped.
3. The car was running slicks.
4. Not only did they run it from a rolling start, they timed it with a fucking stopwatch.

Likely scenario? All above.

Mizuno's is also stating the GT-R ran a 1/4 mile time of 11.7 @149. A 149 mile per hour trap, in 110 degree weather no less. Talk about alot of creditability there.

"Mizuno's numbers are impressive: 3.5 seconds to 60 mph (in 110-degree weather, no less), 11.7 seconds to the quarter mile at a t rap speed of 149.1 mph. He says the GT-R will tear up the skidpad to the tune of 0.99 g -- even on 20-inch run flats -- and stop from 60 mph in only 111.5 feet. Top speed is targeted at 192.6 mph, though it will be governed to 186 mph. Notable, however, iss that while these stats beat his 911 Turbo numbers and those recorded by other magazines, they don't beat ours."

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_0712_2008_nissan_gt_r/technology_specs.html

The Z06 ran a 7:44, bone stock, and did it from a stop on shitty all season rubber using the track timers. If the production GT-R does the same and runs anywhere near as good, then I will be impressed.

Buwahahhahaaaaaa.... wow, such anger.
till the ZR-1/Blue Devil/Vette/whatchamacallit runs some times.. there is no use in comparing the vette to the GTR. the vette will have weight and power over the Nissan, but AWD traction and a car desgined around ring lap times will have the advantage (if the keep the slick tires on!!)

everything is gonna be pitted against the GTR now... its the new benchmark.
its common to place each new car aginst the benchmark.
10 years ago, when top speed numbers were god.. the car to beat was the McLaren F1, well now the N-Ring time to beat is held by the GTR. So each car in that class is gonna be compared to the Nissan.

hahaha is it going to be Vette versus SkyRine from here on out?

My benchmark will always be the Vette. When the GT-R Premium Elite Edition with HDMI and 1080P comes out and trumps the Z06, General Motors will take more quality away from the rest of their lineup and put it into a new Vette and trump it right back. They will do this until the Cobalt and Sentra is reduced to a shopping cart with vinyl siding.

Let's hope it turns into a suspension and chassis tweaking war rather than a horsepower war. That ZR1 is some hot fucking shit, but from hearing Clarkson's review I couldn't imagine driving that or a Z06 on Houston streets.

who cares what clarkson says about its normal road driving, hes complaining about its flimsy radio, its LHD , cars too wide...he just over exaggerates it's ride issues cause he's comparing it to a Ferrari.

Clarkson was smoking crack. I put 900 miles on a Z06 in a weekend, and even more than that over the course of a week of driving it around town. I never ONCE felt that it was too harsh to drive around Houston roads. Hell, the standard Mustang GT has a harsher suspension than the Z06.

Always take Clarkson's opinions on American cars with a HUGE grain of salt.
