It's just all about your box and who installs it (rather, if they are a dumbass or not)

Only YOU can prevent distortion :thumb:

I don't think the bd 1000 will have the balls todo the work...a jl 500/1, memphis 1000d , bd 1500, or something like them...the subs are 500 watts each...if I remember corectly...so 1000 or 1500 watts would be recomended...the bd 1000 puts out about 650 watts...if you want to check your amp look at the birth certificate...

Not sure about which W3's you are referring to, but the v.1's were 250 RMS, on them 1000w would be fine

not sure bout any specs on their newer stuff tho..

w3's are DVC 250 a voice coil...500 a woofer x 3= 1500 watts...I like math... :hide:

I guess you're talking about the v.2's then, because the originals were NOT rated "per coil", nor is any other DVC sub that I know of, unless the company just wants to brag about a useless fact

I donno about companies not post'n what the woofer can handle per voice coil...but I do know the w0 is rated at 250 ...and that is a SVC...

the way companies work woofers(you can check any company)

SVC woofer
DVC woofer (double first woofer)
upgraded DVC woofer (double second)
mad power woofer SVC, DVC,or QVC

example:
punch, he-he2-hx2-power hx2...they also have z woofers but those just sux.
jl, w0-w3-w6-w7
kicker, comp-compVR-solobaric L5-solobaric L7

THe W0 is svc yes, but it's 125 RMS. Next up is the W3, at 250 total. It could take the 500 watts fine yeah, im just saying, it's not RATED as 500 watts by no means. Next in the lineup then is the (original) W6, which was 300W rms (total)

akaPsyco you are wrong about the w0 being 250 Watts RMS. Here is the info directly from the JL Audio website:

The 12W0 is a potent 12-inch subwoofer designed to extract maximum performance from small to moderate power levels. Highly flexible in its application, this speaker works extremely well in sealed, ported and even bandpass designs.

Nominal Diameter: 12 inches (300 mm)
Continuous Power Handling: 125 Watts
Voice Coil: 1.38" diameter, 6-layer, Kapton former
Available Configurations: 4 ohm or 8 ohm (Single Voice Coil)
Xmax (one-way, linear): 0.34" (8.6 mm)
Sealed Enclosure Range: 1.00-1.75 cu.ft. (28.3-49.5 liters)
Ported Enclosure Range: 1.75-2.75 cu.ft. (49.5-78.0 liters)
VRC™ Technology: YES

Hmmmm. I thought that the 1500bd was only one channel? how are you supposed to split it into 500watts a sub?

To split the wattage per sub you either run the speakers in Parallel or Series. Both of them will get you what you need, but which one you decide really depends on the Resistance you want to achieve (ie 1 Ohm, 2 Ohm, 4 Ohm, 8Ohm, etc)

depending on what coil configuration you get the BD1500 puts out about 1700x1@2ohm. not 1ohm stable (so don't get all dual 6 and wire in parallel..)
