TOKYO — Toyota will unveil its Crown Hybrid Concept, a production-ready premium vehicle expected to go on sale in Japan next year, at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show.

The rear-wheel-drive Crown Hybrid Concept is equipped with the THS II hybrid powertrain, which Toyota says has a two-stage motor-speed reduction device that helps with smooth acceleration, fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. The concept also gets a thin film transistor LC "Finegraphic Meter" that conveys information to the driver in an "easier-to-see" way.

The concept is about the size of a Lexus LS sedan. The Crown is sold in Japan and China, markets that seem to be the primary target for the Crown Hybrid Concept. The concept also gets Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management and 10 airbags.

Agreed it's very pleasing to the eye. I don't like the tails, but that can be fixed.

i believe there was a time that toyota imported a few way back in the old days. and now days no one in the states is willing to pay 60+k for a toyota.

We got crown's in dubai...but after a while, they got to be more expensive then a GS300's. People wanted a cheaper lexus than a crown for that price tag...thats why we don't get such cars here....

I think the reason we dont have nice cars, with high MPG, and sexy looks, is because our govt has mega millions wrapped up in oil, and would hate to lose money because people dont buy fuel as much.

Lately they have been making that money back with taxes..... notice in houston lately? Tickets for going 75 in a 65 at 2am. Computers magically not putting you in the computer when you show up for a court date and it becomes a warrant that costs twice as much. How about the new points system they put on your license without telling texans. How about raising the toll to $1.50. And those dumb stoplight cameras.

Texas's new points system explained.

You start off with 6 points on your license, every citation is 2 points off. When you use up all your points "sometimes its in one stop...ex. broken light, turn signal, speeding, license plate not in the front of your vehicle even though its in your windsheild" then they send you a surcharge paper saying they want $104.17 for the next 3 years... yes, 3 years. Why? not sure. But if you dont pay it like me, then they suspend your license within a week of non-compliance.

But they take installments of 26$ a month.

and to top it off, if you use up your points within that 3 years, it adds on another 3 years.

This is why im moving to north carolina in a month or so.

texas FTMFL freedom > taxes
