Panoramic picture of the cars staging up by model to be moved into parking lot. An estimated 100-150 cars came to the event later and throughout the day.

...and they say it never rains in Southern California, well my freinds that just ain't true. We were witness to more rain in half a day than Orange County has seen in six months, funny thing is we Houstonians frequently see more rain in a typical afternoon storm. At least we don't have earthquakes I guess.

Arrivedd onsite about 8:30 AM, cars were lining up and most of the vendors on vendors row

... showers here and showers there... now the clouds decided to open up on us and soak the place....

You can see the rows and rows of RX-7s....

Rain sucks. I was soaked.

That's the wild Veilside kit for the FD. While I can't say I like what it does for the classic lines of the FD, it is a very interesting look for a vehicle. I give it a mixed review but have to say it looks much better in person.

Rows and rows of RX-8s abound... turbos, superchargers and more..

Past the RX-8s we find a row of 1st gens...

Then beyond that a sea of 2nd gens...

This looks familiar...

Nice color choice for the FD...

I thought it was transforming at first...

Check out the reflection of the Japanese flag on the car.

So there are only 6 Cosmo Sport in the US and Mazda has two of them. It's safe to say that this is the rarest rotary model in the Western Hemisphere. The L110 aka Cosmo Sport only came in white and had few options. It was 1967 and Japanese sports cars were only beginning to come of age. Mazda's little coupe took the styling world by storm.

If having the original Cosmo wasn't enough Mazda managed to pull another rare (to US shores) model in the Cosmo JC aka the Eunos Cosmo. This is the vehicle that gives us the fabled 20B for those wild rotary conversions. This was a perfect example of the Cosmo from Mazda's private collection.

Moving down to the end of the row last but certainly not least was Mazda's Kabura concept. While a honest answer about the future of this car and possibly the inclusion of a rotary remained illusive, grins and chuckles could hardly mask the truth behind the secrecy. It's safe to say something wicked is coming, question is what will it be. It might look something like this... the Kabura...

The third door concept really seems to work well, who knows if it will make it to production. Regardless, having a single door on the drivers side and a dual door setup ALA RX-8 would be fine by me. You might also note there is a small jump seat behind the driver too.

... a piece of history...

After it was all done, I went and had dessert.

Super props to those REPUs. Probably the only vehicles that really stood out as cool in that entire sea of cars, to me =P.
