It will be fitted with a 3.8L twin turbo with integrated exhaust manifolds and turbo housings. The engine is confirmed as being called VR38VETT. The VR38 is based off of the VR35HL, 3.5L twin turbo V8 from Nisan's R390 Group C race car that competed at Le Mans. The director of the R390 program made some major contributions to the production of the 2009 GT-R in the areas of development and design theory. Basically the GT-R will be developed as a road-going car for the public as opposed to a race car made available to the public.
This information was translated from Holiday Magazine on 7tune. The chart compares the GT-R with the 911 Turbo and has the GT-R listed as weight over 3800 lbs. The exact weight of the GT-R is 1750 kg or 3858 lbs. - HEAVY! :gonk:

lol @ BLEMBO
its not heavy for the power it packs.
haha how tragic. That is pretty freaking heavy. It's about how much my Xterra weighed baahaha
I'm trying to understand how the GT-R can be heavier than a G37. _Zac, I'm going to save my $90k and I'm sticking with my $7000 S14.

if it says Blembo, I will reserve judgement. Curb weight, too ... I will wait till someone has actual numbers.

And the fact that they mention multiple transmission for the Porsche but only list one for the Nissan.

I think that's how Japanese people spell Brembo. I've read many Japanese articles and "Blembo" often come up.
I guess it's just a Japanese thing. At least it's not Nissan GT-L.

Japanese mix up there R's. To bad I have L's and R's in my name. The Japanese lady at the Japanese hotel in Little Tokyo, LA butchered my name to death. :gonk:

Yeah even my GTO was smirking at the news. Still a hot car though
Half the idiots on this site said I was stupid for saying it would weight that much. Now they all have to eat their words. God I hate being right all the time.

I saw one yesterday at Nismo Omori Factory, they are working on it for the Tokyo Motor Show in October, they are working on an S-Tune concept which might debut at TAS 08. The security was quite rediculous. That thing is nice, but judging by the numbers on this thread (and if they are accurate), its much heavier than i expected. Makes me wonder how they squeezed out the performance numbers with that much weight. Makes me also wonder what would happen if it`s put on a serious diet.

A freakishly stiff chassis, a damn good suspension and gearing
What performance numbers? There are no official numbers last I heard it was all shit made up by fanboys.

L & R sound very similar in japanese, so I've heard. Thats why they get mixed up alot in the translation. Still funny though.
