YOu know what i mean about my car doing it on its own right hehhee...my car tends to *drift* when im launching at the line, or in wet conditions, etc...dayum RWDs hehehe..they are fun though...i seriously want to see real drifting here..like at the track or a place..not senseless drifting...

It's called ass dragging. Not drifting but still ok if you like it. Pulling the emergency is not drifting either. Yeah, I was scared at first because the 240 is kinda wide so you have to know your car pretty damn well. If you don't you tend to hit curbs and mess up pretty badly.

Really drifting is kinda hard and takes much practice. After about a month of practicing in empty parking lots you can try and take it on a dirt road (if you don't want to waste you tires) or a road that has a lot of tight curves.

hehehe..has anyone ever done or seen tray sliding? I saw it on the net and ppl talked about it in forums....

I know what you mean about knowing your car pretty well bc i have lots of curb check marks on all my rims..thats why i dont bother spending dough on expensive rims...I usually like to fold my mirrors in just in case i get out of control...

I hope your not being sarcastic but if your not you can drift in a parking lot with an AWD but I wouldn't recommend it uless you have the cash for tires. Try it in the rain in a parking lot. You won't flip because it won't take much speed to start the cut in. Also you won't have to use your e-brake because most drifting is about weight transfer. Don't be scared though. Just be relaxed because you have to be part crazy/part race car driver when drifting.

Hey Turbo FC3C ill go and drift with ya. Im over in the Cy-Fair area, and i go to Traders Village quite a bit. Ill join ya sometime suonds like fun. I dont think drifting is as hard as you make it out to be, just gotta get the motions down and make sure the front end doesnt keep rotating in the wrong direction and make sure the back tires keep floating and keep from getting grip.

McFly
02-05-2003, 12:19 AM
but at the same time, you need to be able to gain grip in the rear end to come out clean.

It's more commonly known as the Scandinavian flick, the region of Europe which encompasses Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland. This area is where many of the top rally car drivers come from. The technique is used when traction is limited and is meant to use the slick road surface in aiding in rotating the car into an approaching corner. As entering the corner you turn in the opposite direction of the turn with the wheel for an instant then immediately spin the wheel in the other direction. The weight of the car's transition will begin to rotate the car and you will then have to countersteer as the car will be sliding sideways. It takes timing and car control in order to execute it properly.

bing. john is right on. i cant explain it well...i just kind of do it and it looks really cool from outside and in.

kinda the nice thing about having such long travel suspension...you load it by steering the opposite direction...and the instant you steer the other direction instant drift. this behavior is what sent me spinning on my first autoX int he car...i did a flick without realizing till afterwards...now if id done it earlier...i probably woulda drifted my way right into the stop box with style...but no....i did it too late.
