there game has a mic test feature in your start, program files, sierra, halflife, then you should be able to see something called voice setup. that should help

Seemed like the voice test went ok, but wasnt loud enough to hear. I turned up the mic volume in control panel(xp) all the way, but still it didnt come up on in-game. I noticed that i dont have the speaker thing on the right side in the score menu. Im dyin to talk smack to some of these nimrods, help.

Yeah make sure everything is working properly. You can check it by going to Control Panel and going to the systems icon and seeing stats on your sound card. If not, update em'

are you using windows XP? if so, I know of the problem that you are talking about. CS has a problem working correctly with XP, and it will not in some cases allow CS to operate the auto-mute feature on your sound card. I Had this problem, and eventually went back to 2000 Pro, as I had many other issues with XP. Before I reinstalled, I tried everything from reinstalling sound card drivers to reinstalled CS. Nothing works. You can either go back to a previous version of Windows, or deal with not having a mic.

Possibly...I can't tell you for sure. I know a lot of people have had problems with CS and XP getting the mic to work. I am not sure if it has to do with being onboard sound, or PCI or what. I just use my onboard in this computer, and it wouldnt work for shit. If you wanna spend the dough on a new card, go for it. But like I said, I dont know if that will fix your problem. Personally, I would back up what you need, re-format XP and go with Windows 2000. Better program, doesn't take up half the resourses that XP does.

It was a compatibility problem and it should be fixed by going to Microsoft.com and downloading the updates.
