I remember someone posting some pics of a 2 door altima.... umm, yea.... that's not it.

It's gonna look a little more like this...:

During the ongoing New York Auto Show Nissan presented its fourth generation Altima mid-size sedan. With a quarter of a million units sold in the year 2005 alone, the third generation Altima was one of the most popular sedans of this class sold on the U.S. market. Now the Japanese company tries to build on this success.

The all-new 2007 Nissan Altima comes equipped with an advanced Xtronic CVT mated with either 2.5-liter 16-valve DOHC in-line four-cylinder gasoline motor (165hp @ 170 lb-ft) or the VQ-series 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 engine that features more than 265 horsepower at 255 lb-ft of torque. In both trims the car may be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The 2007 Altima also offers a wide range of options such as Intelligent Key with Push Start Ignition, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, RearView Monitor and an advanced navigation system.

Prices and technical specifications are yet to be announced.

First of all, those are old pics and do not disprove that a coupe exists. There are REAL photos of a Nissan coupe, so what is the point? Or are you saying that a model can only be released as either a sedan or a coupe, and not both?

You just can't have both, it's an impossibility ... it would tear the fabric of the space time continuum

So because it's not on there now, they're never going to release it? Is there any reason why they wouldn't release one, other than to blatantly disregard its main competitors in the market (Accord, Camry) and the fact that they are both offered as a coupe option?

You can identify a BMW, Mercedes, a Dodge, Chryslers, most Toyotas by the way their grilles or headlights are designed. Consumers are more apt to upgrade to the next higher vehicle because the basic overall look is more familiar. Plus, having established an "identity", a car company's vehicles are more easily recognizable. This is something a few of you "car enthusiasts" can't grasp.

How are those two pics the same car? Do you even pay attention to detail, or do you just look at two silver coupes and assume they are the same? Yes, they share a very similar chassis design, but they are still obviously two different cars. Also, I'm sure you know that the G35 doesn't compete with the Camry or Accord. Infiniti doesn't compete with Toyota or Honda, but again, I'm stating what should already be obvious. The luxury segment has always been in a different class.

and it doesn't look any more like a g35 coupe than a maxima does to a g35 sedan, i'd rather take the old G coupe over that new thing any day

I really hope it's Detroit. In addition to the Sentra SE-R, the LA show is supposed to have a new performance vehicle that marks Nissan's entry into a 'previously untapped market.'

Don't get me wrong, the Altima coupe is cool and all, but something much better could fit the bill for the LA show. A production version of the Urge? The Foria? The list goes on.

I wasn't taking it personal. I never said you bashed "my" car, but you pulled a random car out of the air and make a subjective statement about it, when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Additionally, I was not bashing "your" car; I was simply stating that while the Solara is a lot more girly than the Altima, the Altima is not necessarily a street ready "tuners" car that many young guys go for. That goes for both aesthetics and aftermarket upgradability. So your statement that the Altima is supposedly more "manly" or tunable than the RSX is still laughable and erroneous at best, but again, I digress.

No, the CR-V is a compact, like the Rav4(getting a little too big), Mazda Tribute, etc. Nissan doesn't have an entry in this size range. The upcoming Rogue will probably take care of that.

The Murano competes with the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-7, etc.

The CR-V and Rav4 are both crossovers, based on the platforms of the Civic and Corolla, respectively. The Murano shares the FF-L platform of the Maxima/Altima (I really wish Nissan would create more distinction between those two cars.) I understand where you're coming from, since the Murano is more "near luxury" and competes in a different class than the Rav4 or CRV. I was just pointing out the similar functionalities of the smaller suvs. Also, some people tend to think that the FX is the "big brother" of the Murano, but those two suvs are based off of two different platforms, and really cannot be compared fairly.

Okay, so you really understood where I was headed earlier. Nissan just needs an entry level SUV. It would also be nice to have a 4cyl Murano with the QR25DE to help it compete with the Highlander and come in at a lower price point. I think the Murano starts in the mid $20k range, which is a bit high, imho. A cheaper model would probably bring in more customers.
