The Honda Element-D (”D” for drifting) racecar shows what can happen when enthusiastic Honda associates raid the company parts bin. Built for the racing sport of drifting, the Honda Element-D racecar replaces the stock 4-cylinder/Real Time(TM) 4WD drivetrain with a custom-designed and longitudinally-mounted 3.2-liter Honda V6 and rear-wheel-drive. Producing 500-horsepower, the lightweight twin-turbocharged powerhouse is guaranteed to light up the rear tires and accelerate sideways at full opposite lock. Associates from Honda R&D Americas, Inc., in Ohio plan to campaign the Element-D in the 2007 Formula Drift Series.

um no ....its wide enough not to roll, also if they use correct offset wheels/tires...suspention set up it would make a rad drift car. and as u can see in that pic there is barely any roll.

then how do you explain all those silvias, corollas, 180's, cefiro's, skylines, chasers, etc etc etc that have flipped while drifting when ALL of them have a lower center of gravity than a honda element does??
Hondas are magic!
Couldnt Honda have chosen a car to extensively modify for drift duty?
I would have picked a fucking S2000 or NSX

hitting a gard rail or cement barrier(like taka ono did in his 86) is way diffrent from what yall are saying. in all my years of watching drifting ive never seen any car "just flip" over with out some help.

Hello suspension engineers!
"Hello."
We assume you know nothing!
"That would be incorrect."
You might be right, but we come from the internet!
"You'd be correct then, as the internet is the source of all truth in human knowledge."

There are already three S2000s in Formula D(Tyler McQuarrie/RS*R, Stephan Papdakis/AEM and Peter Kleinubing/Real-Time Racing) and at least one in D1(Gen Terasaki, a former AE86 Levin driver), but a factory-backed S2000 would be very cool.
Unfortunately, the S2000 is geetting the axe, so there wouldn't be much point in campaigning a discontinued car. Even GM knows that, and got Rhys Millen into a Solstice instead of the now-discontinued GTO.

I think it's pretty cool. I'd be much more interested in an Element or a Toaster in RWD with some power. I still wouldn't buy one, but I'd definitely show some more respect. Maybe if it does well honda will follow suit. I want to see a V-8 Chevy Astro do some drifting now. XD

A drift NSX would be a sight to behold.
friend of mine in cali is supposedly working on one... prolly wont be done soon, but last i heard full cf widebody, no word on performance... just he said hes gonna build it for drift..
he owns Kure. as well as the kure drift s15 spec r, a r33gtr, and who knows what else at this point..
haven't talked to him in a while.. but it may happen still

Big horsepower NSXs are a rare commodity. Good luck getting big numbers from the C motor.
