Best of British
What with their favourable climate, good food, successful international football team and, most of all, their stunning supercar heritage, it's difficult not to feel a pang of jealousy towards the Italians.
So it's always nice when something like this turns up to give our continental cousins a good poke in the eye.
This stunning beast is the Ascari A10. With 625bhp on tap and a claimed 0-60mph time of just 2.8 seconds, it's also road legal.
The A10 hits 100mph in under six seconds, according to its manufacturer, which makes it one of the fastest road-going production cars in the world.
And the best bit is that it's British through and through.
Based on Ascari's KZ1, which has been racing in the GT3 series this year, the A10 has new body panels, a reworked engine and suspension, and extensive brake modifications.
Lucky owners will have to shell out £350,000 for the privilege of an A10 on the driveway. Although that's a veritable bargain beside the million-pound Enzo FXX, luxuries such as central locking are optional extras.
But with only 10 cars are being built, each one to order, the rest of us will have to just have to ogle the photos.
Form an orderly queue.
