I want a new lens for my D50 which will get me a lttle closer up than the lenz I have now, is the Nikon 70-300mm f/ 4-5.6 AF G, ok,

its pretty cheap but my wife is still kicking my ass for buying the camera,

my gf has that one, i have the ED version, both are really nice espically the G model for the price...nikon just came out with the 70-300 VR for around $500, but she really likes the 150 dollar lens

o ya, and she has the 70-300 on a d50

I've used it, and I personally think it's horrible. Look into getting a 70-210mm f/4-5.6 D lens instead. You'll find it for around $200 on ebay since it's discontinued now, I sold mine for $220 and got the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D lens for $350.

I kept looking on ebay everyday for a good deal, that one had some issues with the zoom barrel being kind of stiff because it was hit on the side, but AF speed and glass quality was A+ condition so no complaints here.

isnt there like 2 differnt models of that lens out, the one that you push/pull, and then the one that you rotate?
