I found this picture of a flower I had taken a while back and I did a little work in PS to it. I just wanted to get some opinions on the picture and the touch up.

When I first started using photoshop I was so obsessed with coloring pictures like that.
It's fun, isn't it?

Yeah it is but somewhat time consuming. The filaments were a bitch to work around.
And about the focus, the picture was at 55mm f/5.6 so parts of it are in focus and parts of it are not. Even the parts that are in focus don't seem like it because of the glow effect.
Yes flowers are boring, but this was one of the few decent macros I've taken and kept so I decided to work with it. Go see my lizard in the random photo thread. :p

Yeah I just selected everything that I wanted to keep. Because the orignal picture was a 6mp picture and my crappy monitor at home is only 1024x768 I had to compound the selection by using the shift key to add to the selection. Then I inverted the selection and desaturated.

hah.. thats the LONG way to do it. duplicate layer, desaturate, and erase.. done!

Yeah I could to it that way but that's not very accurate because the erase tool still has a small ammount of feathering in it. That would be a good idea for the blurred edges though because I could just change the opacity of the eraser so it blends better.

change the erase brush style and you wont have feathering!
