hey guys i'll be in need of a lens with a good wide angle view.
it'll be used indoor and outdoor but mainly indoor. what do you suggest to buy. or is there like an adaptor that will attach to the existing 18-55 for the rebel xt?

new or used.

thanks
pete

canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 but it'll cost as much as your camera

if you're looking for a budget type lens, take a look at the tokina 12-24mm f/4

i know someone that uses it, it does a decent job.

you could look at sample pictures on http://www.pbase.com/cameras/tokina/at_x_124_af_pro_dx but alot of people tend to suck.

those aren't really much wider than an 18-55mm lol.

I'd get a canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 (actually, I have one), or a similar one from another company. It was about $600. It's very, very different from the kit lens in terms of going wide and seeing things from a whole different perspective. very fun to shoot with but honestly, I hardly ever use it.

Also, the kit lens is crap. Another cheap lens to consider is the 50mm 1.8, it goes anywhere between 60-80 bucks, depending on where you find it. It's extremely sharp since it's a prime, but it really depends what you shoot and how you use your equiptment.

well ihave a friend of mine that is in the real state business and he asked me if i would be interested in taking pictures of the houses he sells, so there for i need that lens to be able to capture alot of space in the rooms.

all of those are at 10mm on a 20d.

so unless you plan on going WA with a FF, you're SOL.

you can't really go much wider than that with your current equipment + wideangle lens unless you just plan on shooting panoramics.

you already get a lot of distortion with a 10mm-whatever lens, any wider and you will be going fisheye, and i dont think that will be optimal for real estate.
