yeah you know what i mean.
what do you think about them?
personally i hate them. there's nothing that ruin's a photo faster than a HUGE VIET BoI pHoToGrApHy banner across the photo. this was a topic while colleagues were waiting tonite and they concur that watermarks are pretty useless and 99% of the people that use them are noobs anyways. i totally agree. i cant tell you how many times i see a good photo then my eyes see this hideous watermark thrown on it. if you are going to do it at least do it super small, with low opacity and for god's sake use some decent typography. i do it very rarely if ever with my stuff.
but what do i know.

sounds like it. :hs:
But it sure is annoying looking at a watermark at 100% opacity or even at a 50%.

ive got this store bought way of saying im okay, and youve learned how to cry in total silence. youre talented and bright, youre lonely and uptight, youve found some lovely ways to disappoint but the airports always almost empty this time of the year, so let's go play on a baggage carousel. set our watches forward like we're just arriving here from a past we left in a place we knew too well.

I count to three and grin.
You smile and let me in.
We sit and watch the wall you painted purple.
Speech will spill on space.
Our little cups of grace.
But pauses rattle on about the way that you cut the snow-fence,
braved the blood,
the metal of those hearts that you always end up pressing your tongue to.
How your body still remembers things you told it to forget.
How those furious affections followed you.

From a viewer's point of view, I think flagrant watermarks degrade the photo and it ends up distracting me from the picture itself.

I think we need more of them... and more photoshop lens flares all over the picture.

ive always wanted to do one(but something uber small like u said)... only because im proud of my own work. i know im no pro, prolly not even a good amateur... but i take pride in my work. i would hope thats the mentality for most people and why they create them, and not just an ego trip or whatever.
I think we need more ppl calling their xt's 350d, even tho they didnt buy theirs in japan.
But huge watermarks across the picture usually make me go to another thread.

I think there are programs that will add "invisible" watermarks to photos so you can retain copyright stuff without ruining the pic I'm sure it can be done in photoshop too. But I agree with what your saying. I laugh when I see them on a shitty picture that nobody would steal anyway.

I think it's pretty much a sign of newbie photographers. If I do some kind of photos that help promote me, I'll place a small watermark in the border of the picture. I agree with you though... I hate it when people plaster that shit everywhere. Especially when they use some kind of stupid font.

from my understanding its really easy if you know what you are doing to prove that the photo is yours without a watermark

no, not really. 99% of the time there is a difference between the us car and the foreign car.
person who takes a civic and puts all the motor and suspension parts to make it a type r, then its closer to a type r civic than a usdm civic.
person who buys a rebel xt, does nothing too it and calls it an 350d, while yes they are the same camera, the xt is in English and the 350d is in Japanese, so unless you actually changed the firmware of your camera, you are just lying so ppl think you are cool and have a jdm camera.

i would assume that most photographers other than Canon and/or Professionals would care if someone calls their camera Rebel XT or 350d, or KM's 7D or D7 (which is contradicting to Nikons).

most ppl prob wont, but then most ppl dont get annoyed at idiocy like I do.
And 99% of the time you see someone calling an XT a 350, they are either a n00b or trying to have jdm cool points. Sometimes they are making fun of the forth mentioned. Its not that ppl are calling a D50 a 50D on accident, its ppl purposely calling a camera by a wrong name so it will be jdm.

i promise i'll never call my xt a 350d again.
please forgive me.

dude, who the hell cares what i call my camera as long as you know what it is. No ones trying to score "JDM points" by calling it a 350D. If I really wanted to do that, I'd call it a KISS N Digital or some shit, which is the model name in Japan. 350D/XT/KISS N I don't even know the difference.
get over the petty crap.

for real. i doubt anyone is trying to be "jdm" with their camera. sometimes i catch myself calling it a 350d just cuz i thought it was the "technical term"

oh and my watermark is now just a bar added to the bottom of the photo, i like to label the date/event and just have my website on the right side so people know where to find the rest of the pictures

I don't remember seeing his pics, I probably wasn't much into picture taking, but yeah, photoshop +++
I experimented with it alot while I was in Greece and found out what tends to work best with car pics and now use it towards my advantage.
