hey everybody! I am lookin for a new bag to order. I have a lowepro backpack right now. It's the small size and it's alright, but it only carries my cameras. It's not terribly versatile, but its good for packing light.
I want a bag that will not only carry my camera, but other shit too for when I'm out on a photo excursion. Needs to be able to take a lot of hiking and running around.
Possibly hold a laptop if it needs to, my mp3 player and maybe a change of clothes.
basically a full size camera backpack.
anyone here like to go adventuring and take pics?
post up your favorite bag companies and maybe some pics to help out!

damn i am truely a bag whore. anyone that has ever come over my place knows that.
i dont have a backpack anymore.
i had the Canon backpack and sold it because it was too small, then i went to the Lowepro mini trekker backpack which was nice, but i started not using it as much so i sold it to drew. i also had a Naneupro Alpha SE backpack dealy, but never used it and sold it to rathan on a whim.
i own now a few bags:
my main is my pelican case. its a rolling strongbox by pelican and the largest legal carry on size. its my life saver at the airport.
another one of my mains is the Lowepro stealth reporter 650AW its great but is a heavy shouldered bag. i got it free when i worked for wolf yay.
domke fm2 i think. its a small canvas bag for a few things.
thats pretty much it right now.
i had a tamrac 5612 but i traded it in to HCE for the pelican.

I have a Lowepro CompuTrekkerAW Plus backpack and a Lowepro Hipbag that I use. Love the Lowepro stuff. The backpack is nice since I can fit all my gear and laptop in one bag, leaving me with one more bag I can carry on the plane.

on the plane i carry my pelican case. i love it because its a pelican. its pretty much indestructable. ive sat on it waiting on planes and at the baggage claim. i can roll it all the way until my seat and its great. i carry a shoulder (jack bauer style) bag for my laptop.
im wanting to get the think tank modulus system but man does it look gay.

I have the Crumpler 7 million dollar home bag. I like it because it looks discreet and doesn't actually scream HI I'M A CAMERA BAG. The 7 million is big enough to put ALL my shit in there, but there are also other sizes. It is also super durable and incredibly well made.

yeh, i don't ant to look like a total fgt with the camera bag. In fact, I want to draw less attention to myself.
the pelican case sounds like something good to look into though since I'll need something to hold all my shit when I'm on the plane.
Got al ink the bauer bag? I've been thinking abou tordering one too, but dunno where to find it? Maybe I should just google it.

my bags got a puppy bed. i use it to conceal alcohol, but should be used to carry camera equipment.

when i'm traveling, i use my jansport bag. the one i take to school. I shove the clothes on the bottom that i need just in case. throw a lens and the camera in there. then some other stuff. I check in all my other camera stuff in my bag.
for everyday use, i still use the same bag. i <3 it. I hate messenger type bags, i like having both shoulder straps and the chest strap.

the problem I have found is like todd said, either its a heavy ass shoulder bag, too small of a backpack or fucking huge. I kinda like the lowepro rover, its a true backpack/camera bag but not big at all.
Todds Naneupro Alpha SE was flippin sweet, and all the domkes I have seen are pretty nice.
Best bet is to goto HCE and anywhere that sells the bag you want and check it out, you dont want to end up with a body bag called a stealth reporter.

Im not saying its a bad bag. Its a sweet bag, but when you say stealth I think of something, well stealthy. Not something you can smuggle 5 immigrants in.

Alright, I need a good carryon bag for my camera equipz.
Todd, the pelican case looks neat. What model did you buy that is the largest legal carryon size. I think it would be a bit daunting to use as a carry around, however I can easily grab a good backpack at Yodabashi in Shinjuku when I arrive.
What other bags might be good to use as a carryon. I have a messenger for my laptop.
Is there a place in Houston I could possibly go looking @ bags? FRY's maybe? Anyone in H-town carry crumpler bags?
Houston camera exchange has alot of bags.

hit up hce. tons of bags. i got my velocity 9 there. i think it makes me look like a TMNT but it functions very well. Its a messenger type backpack, one strap. but what i like about it is that you can swing it around to the front real quick if you need the camera asap. anyways, i like it.... it fits my d50 body and it can accomodate pretty much any lens thats attatched to it, just remove the panels in the center column. it holds my 3 lenses, sg 18-125, sg 70-300, nk 50, my sb600, mini tripod and its almost full... prolly space for one more medium sized lens. it also has a front pocket that has places for memory cards and batteries and whatnot.
