It seems okay but I don't know. I recently got into paintball A LOT and wanted to take some good pics. I have taken some w/ this camera and they come out nice..
Problem :( It takes 2 seconds from when I push the button till it takes the pic...The shutter speed is okay but the delay until it shoots SUCKS :(
The lady at best buy said that the canon was good for shooting objects that move a bit.. :( but it seems to be a bit to slow for me.

2 second delay in shutter speed is basically death if you're trying to take action shots.
Look for a camera with a quick shutter release... I'd say you're going to be looking in the $800 and up price range.

:( WHAT?? that sucks.. hhmm then I just better tell my friends..DON'T MOVE YET..haha
I will see if I can maybe reduce the speed then.. So that is the shutter speed huh.. I press the button down and then it takes 2 seconds to take the pic :( crap.

hmm, it would seem to me that most P&S would be slow, for what you are wanting to achieve it would seem that you need a SLR or if they make a fast P&S

If it's not something where the needed focus distance or light intensity is going to change a lot, you could just depress the shutter button halfway, let it do the autofocus and metering, then push it all the way when you need to. There should be very little delay.

What good p+s cameras are out there now? Planning to spend somewhere around $150, just something to take good family like pictures

there isn't a 2 second delay on the camera, its pretty quick for a point and shoot. especially if you're not using the flash
