NEW INFO: AE86 MEET in Austin and info on our caravan from Houston!!!

Texas AE86 MEET

***This meet will not be AE86's only. It is just a chance for all AE86 owners of Texas to meet up in one city. There will be other cars there such as TurboII RX7's(FC3S), '98 240SX(S14), WRX, MR2's, MA70(3rd gen Supra). It doesn't matter what you drive. As long as you won't kill yourself when we cruise the mountain, bring it. We are NOT anti-Honda, so bring it. If you're from Houston, like me, and want to check this out, there is info about a Houston--->Austin caravan.

-The meet will be on Saturday March 1st in Austin, TX
-Because of the change in people's schedules, the time of the meet is still pending. Please check back for the time.

-The meet will be at an IHOP location at the 183 and 620 intersection. If you don't know where that is, don't worry...there will be a Houston to Austin caravan.
-The back room has been reserved for us, so come hungry-The IHOP parking lot is large enough for all of us to park together. This is where we will start our meet. Chit chatting and snapping a few photo shots.

-After the meet we will be heading out to cruise LimeCreek, Nameless, and other roads. MAKE SURE YOUR BRAKES WORK!!! The course is not finalized. Check out pictures of our cruise through Limecreek and Nameless at our first mini meet for some insight.
-Along the cruise, there will be stopping points to let the cars rest, and snap some shots w/ the mountain and lake background.
-There's no telling how long the cruise will last. It just depends on how long our course will be set out, and how many passes everyone wants to make.

- At the end of the evening, Austin has their own car meet and parking lot shows. We'll be heading out to that and checking out what Austin's scene has to offer.

***Depending on how long the cruise lasts, we may get something to eat prior to visiting Austin's weekend parking lot carshows. We'll just jave to decide that part as we go along.



FOR THE CARAVAN

There will be a few of us leaving Houston and caravaning to Austin. For sure there will be me, 2 other 86, an S14(98 240SX), and a WRX. We will almost definitely leave that same Saturday morning (March 1st), *possibly* at noon. When we leave depends heavily on who is going. If you want in on this, please contact me somehow, some form, some way. My contacts will are included at the bottom. Or post up.

the austin car scene has kind of died down a bit due to cops closing out a lot of the meeting places... i can try and get some of the bigger clubs to come and show if you'd like :) Also, if you guys get here early enough you should drive down around the 360 bridge and 2222, GREAT scenery there :)

The caravan will be taking 290 to Austin. We will meet up at 12p.m., that Saturday and leave for Austin at 12:30.

-We will meet where 1960 becomes HWY6. That is at the 290/1960 intersection or 290/HWY6 intersection (whatever you want to call it). Attatched below is a sketched map.

-There is a shopping center right at that intersection. It is on the 1960 side of HWY 290. We will meet in the back of the Acadamy parking lot of that shopping center. Notice on the map, in the corner of the shopping center is a Chevron Gas Station and McDonald's next to it. Behind those two stores is the parking lot for Acadamy. We'll be waiting in the back of the parking lot. Be there at 12pm. We will wait untill 12:30 and leave. We cannot wait for anyone past 12:30 or we might not make it to the meet on time.

Sorry if the map isn't exactly up to scale. My cell number is provided at the bottom with my name. Should you have any problems that morning w/ directions or whatever...give me a call.

If you dont already have a course lined out may I suggest the trip taken by Austin's Z car club. I did this run with the club last weekend and it was a BLAST. Here is a link to the course that we took. You dont have to follow it all the way through but the roads we were on were simply amazing.

Now from me
LimeCreek may not be a good choice for spirited driving on a wet day. However, the weather forecast for Saturday is cloudy so who knows. Also just letting some of you know that the turnout of this meet is very unexpected. Quite a few people's cars aren't ready, and others have recent personal engagements that are preventing them to go. I don't want to surprise any of you that are expecting this to be a huge turnout as I understand it is a long drive.

Anyway, keep yourself posted for any info on if the meet is cancelled.
