which swap would you get if you owned a 95 civic coupe dx and all you could afford was either one of these swaps....i'm confused cuz i like low end power more than top end so i dont know if i should get the LS and just build up top end or get the JDM B16A and build up low end...what do ya'll think...any info or opinions given would be greatly appreciated...thanks, Sal

I vote LS. You can't rev it as high as a B16A, but you'll have torque that the B16A lacks.

i got about 50whp from my bolt ons in my LS. went from 116hp stock to about 155hp after everything was said and done. pretty damn good if you ask me.

Boost is the answer to all our problems. 14's is good, but is it an LS1 killer?
I have beat every LS1 I have ever raced; my bf's Z28 (and it wasn't the driver b/c when I drove my R I beat him, and we switched and I drove the Z28 he beat me) then I beat a modded '99 Z28 at HRP. I'll keep my reliability and keep it NA.

and i've never lost to an ITR in my POS 11 year old car either. when its back on the road, i FOR SURE won't be losing to ANY ITR now matter what's done to it, and still be way below the cost of an ITR, including my car, fixing it, and modding the friggin crap out of it. the LS rocks.

ls motor with turbo is very impressive. But a fully built b16a motor with 9:1 compression is down right exciting. With right fuel management ( AEM) you'll pull hard to 9k. Now that's exciting. Then you'll become a zo6 killer. How many hondas do that?

Plus if you decide to go LS/VTEC, well... It's easier to slap on a VTEC head onto an LS swap than it is to put an LS block under your B16A head. :)

Not to start a fight...but out of the box my LS1 ran 13.3 @ 106. A low 14 won't touch an F body unless you have luck on your side.

I tell you what, next time I'm out there I'll line up my little F2T Probe with tiny bolt-ons against your big bad Type R, or did you suddenly move to New York? haha.

Maybe they took out a few spark plugs in the Z before racing! There is no way a 14 second car would ever beat a LS1 unless the driver of the Z was asleep. Maybe she just thought it was a LS1 and it was actually a V6. Who knows....
...but seeing as she can beat a stock LS1, that would mean that she is in fact a 13 second car. If she is beating modded LS1's that means she is a 12 second car. Tell ya what... I will set you out 5 and the move for $500.. What do you say? It should be easy, right?

Who knows? I had an ITR and I pulled on LT1's (not LS1's though) and an Audi S4 on the highway. The only aftermarket part I had was an AEM intake. If she has a little more, 102-106mph trap speeds aren't out of the question.

LT1's are completely different. A bone stock LT1 does run 14's, so I can definately believe your story. She stated that she is running 14's at the track and that she beat a modded LS1. I would really like to know what that modded LS1 ran and if it was a 14, I want to know what was wrong with the car.

And she beat a MODDED LS1 AT THE TRACK! That's even harder to believe unless she has an LSD running slicks cause that LS1 9 out of 10 times is going to out 60' her big time....that would mean she has to have 12.5 type times to reeeel that car in...

Stock LT1's ran low 14's...so I can see an ITR pulling on one from a roll. As I said my LS1 ran 13.3 stock. Anybody that runs a low 14 in an Fbody simply doesn't know how to drive.

Ok guys, the truth is about to come out. In light of recent activity which I have now been made aware of from a buddy are the actions of "ITRgirl" and her claims. The car activity which I am talking about is "ITRgirl" sporting a "type r" and her sig is www.mayhem-racing.com
This girl has never gotten any work done on her car by Mayhem and doesn't even own a Type R. She has some sort of infatuation with me after seeing my car at Mayhem once. Since that time, she has tried to pose as having my car. I don't know why she has done this but apparently she has already talked a lot of mess on here and pissed off a few domestic owners.
I have the upmost respect for LS1s and other domestics. Hopefully after my post, ITRgirl will fess up and get off my jock. Sorry for all the confusion.
P.S. I have never beat an LS1 if people are curious about her claims of "her" car
