Well on the way back to San Marcos I got a chance to run this 2nd gen RX-7. It said 2.6 or 2.8 V6 on the side. It was White with two blue racing stripes going over the whole car. Is there some kind of swap that you can do to these cars? It looked nice but was pretty dark. Just wondering if it was really a v6? oh yeah it was an emblem not a sticker and it was right behind the front tire if that helps any.

seen it. yup...its real...and therse a v6 in there. you can do the swap i dont think its TOO hard.

personally idr ather put the REAL fc turbo II motor in there...but if you just want a car that runs...i suppose that works.

was it this one?

http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=120927781&dealer_id=&make=MAZDA&distance=100&max_price=20000&model=RX7&end_year=1993&advcd_on=n&min_price=0&address=77375&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1983&color=&car_year=1987

I have seen it running around the 249/1960 area too. Supposedly it is pretty quick but I dont know. I havent ran it yet.

Na, it almost looks exactly like that one but there were two wide solid blue stripes about 2-3 foot apart running along the car just like that one. It didn't seem too quick to me, but it was just a short highway run and he had a passenger.

thats odd tho.

I mean 2 of them in the houston area then. Both white 2nd gens with chevy 2.8s in them :ugh:

wonder why they do it. maybe they fear Wankle's design?

I don't know if this one is from Houston, I was around Flatonia (if you know where that is), it is about an hour and a half from Houston.

I just noticed that the FC you put up has the same rims that my 93PGT(stock rims) has.

Ya it was definately faster than a non-turbo FC though. Maybe he or she just did it as a different upgrade. Probably cheaper than a turbo rotary and cheaper and easier to upgrade than a stock non-turbo. Don't know for sure though just a guess.

alot of ppl do that swap to avoid headaches of the rotary. Alot of ppl also do V8 swaps into FC's and FD's i personally would love to do the LS1 vette engine swap into my fd, but i dont have 10k :( check out this site :) http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/

The one on autotrader was my friend's car. It's sold.

It was his first car, the reason a 2.8 went into it was safety. His dad didn't want him running around in a car that ran like a scalded ape. It's not "easy" to swap like that. The entire car - ENTIRE CAR - was rewired by my friend. It uses a BG T-5 tranny, a chevy 2.8L bored and stroked to 3.2. It's quick, in comparison to your average sport compact.

EDIT: Total money he put into the car, including cost of the car: $3,000.

yeah.. I have seen both of the cars.. ... interesting swap.. similar reasons as posted above... one said that parts were cheap and they had the engine laying around from a old camaro...
