My t-case is dead :bawling: Went out to play two days ago as soon as my front driveshaft was bolted back up, popped it into 4wPT, and was greeted by the horrific sound of the transfer case chain popping and skipping. Apparently when I blew the front 'shaft I also screwed the t-case up, so now I'm in need of a new one. Nobody that I've come across so far has a rebuild kit for the NP242 - there are, naturally, rebuild kits for every other model available :hs:
Just wondering if any of ya'll have any mechanics or similar locations that you go to for 4x4 work. I've already called the Pasadena 4x4 Salvage and the dude wants $900 + core.... fuck that.
TIA :thumb:

throw that shit away and get an np203 to a divorced np205.... crawl ratio bitch!
but that might be a little extreme, ill look around and see if i can find a rebuild kit or a cheap replacement. What tranny does that thing have?

And to answer your question blue, it's an NP242 :) I'll be calling up the parts place today to see what they've got - I can't afford the time to drop and rebuild the t-case myself unfortunately :(
Thanks all!

How much is it to get them redone in leather? Or do you currently have a bench seat?

Transfer cases really aren't that tough to rebuild! Get you a factory service manual, tear it down order the parts you need and put it back together. Call it a good learning experience if you mess up who cares take it off and figure out whats up with it. Thats all part of wheeling is learning how to work on your rig!

all 95.5-04's will be the same and i wana say that the like 89-94's are the same too:thumb: oh, also since you have a bench allready, its possible to get 4 runner buckets(which actually come wraped in leather) and they shoudl bolt up fine.. i remember puttign somein my friends 98 taco..:thumb:
