ok, so what tires does everyoe here use on their 4x4's and such?
i am looking into getting new tires and want to hear what people use and pro's and con's.
i don't mind buying tirees that are non brand as long as they get the job done, so please post up guys and girls :)
p.s.

What are you looking for in a tire? Alot of daily driving w/ some trails every now and then? For a trail rig and every now and then street driver? ALOT OF MUD? SAND? Theres so many different tires its hard to tell you which ones to use without knowing what you expect out of them!
I personally use TSL/SX's for my sammy! There great all around trail tires.

Super Swamper TSLs
I love them... I might buy some for my Dakota.

I don't think Maxxis makes the Buckshot anymore, I was trying to find some a while ago and couldn't find crap.
I'm running some BFG MT's, and I really like the way they perform offroad... I was playing with some friends yesterday and they were all spinning like mad in 4wd, whereas I'm lazy and still haven't stuck my front 'shaft in so I'm 2wd... I still went places they couldn't.
I had Xterrains prior to the BFG's, and they worked nicely offroad as well, although they were significantly louder on-road than the BFG's are (not that I mind, just thought I'd throw it out there). However, ProComp tires don't measure up to actual size, my 31's were actually 29.6" brand new.
I've also run a set of 35" MT/R's, which were pretty damn nice, but really freaking heavy for their size - they've got one of the strongest sidewalls out there though, and are widely used in the rock-crawling circuit.

MTRs are crazy expensive....
I had BFG MTs before my TSLs... I won't look back ;)

I'd like some TSL's, but I do almost all of my driving on the street... rarely have time for offroading anymore, which sucks. I don't really have a need for them either, there's nothing that thick or crazy where I go :hs:

BFG M/T are really good all-around tires and quite capable off road. I also like the IROKS, For now im just on some puny little goodyear wrangler A/T's. Excellent road tire and still better off road than you'd think.

I have a set of 35" of these for 16.5x12 Welds, but the vibration is pretty shitty at low speeds especially when they start to wear to about 50%.
Next set of tires will either be 35" or 38.5" (depending if I regear or not) SS Thornbirds. My friend has some and they are SMOOTH and last a while too.

IMO
Swampers > MTRs > BFG MTs > Mud Rovers > Thorn Turds
Mud rovers a pretty darn good tire for the price.

the only negative about swampers is that theyre usually smaller than whats stated, or at least thats how the old ones were... dont know if theyve fixed it or not.

Depends.. aired down or not. Im sure if my 33s were fully inflated they will be 33s.. but with them aired down to about 4... they probably wont measure out to 33 ;)

I know for sure ProComp's stuff is smaller than stated... I replaced my 31" Xterrains with new ones a couple days after I bought the Jeep and found there were a whopping 29.6"
Now my BFG 33's on the otherhand, slightly used and measuring in at 33.4"

Great thread on tires! Pirate 4x4 is a great wheeling site, with all kinds of awesome information. The only thing is its geared more toward rock crawling! Check it out, they even have a DANA BIBLE! LOL
