View Full Version : Off-road Meet?

Just a thought... would be cool to meet up and go hit the trails in Spring Creek some weekend, snap some group-shots, hang out, normal stuff. They've got some pretty good trails with varying degrees of difficulty so a variety of rigs could come out and play. I wouldn't mind taking a passenger or two if some other peeps want to come along.
Would any of ya'll be down for something like this?

No biggie, I've pulled out an F250 that got stuck... you shouldn't be that difficult :)
You'll just have to use a slightly more banzi approach some of the time ;)

so when's this goin down?
Toastr
01-27-2006, 09:47 AM
Well I need to get my front driveshaft rebuilt (again...) and swap the yoke, and adjust my bumpstops and then I'm good to go. Won't has as much flex as before (33's, woot) but it shouldn't be an issue. Should have all my driveline components in this weekend or before Wednesday and we can plan from there if you'd like?

sooo how about this off road meet :hsugh:
Toastr
02-10-2006, 10:41 AM
I'm going to need a bit more lift if we're going to do anything other than play in the mud or hit some trails with good articulating sections - my 33's rub a bit at weird angles.. ones that you don't use that much at all on-road, but a lot off. Not a huge deal though, I'll be ready in a week or so
I suppose we should pick a place to go first, then work on a date... I was thinking of Spring Creek (in Spring), it's a popular place to go with a variety of trails and a range of difficulty levels if I remember correctly. Anyone else have any suggestions?
this place have noob level? dont really want to end up breakin anything on my pretty truck.

02-12-2006, 12:26 AM
is spring creek just a big mud pit or is there some rocks and trails too?
mud=hell on everything
rocks/trails with articulation=fun (especially for those big trucks.. heh heh heh)
Toastr
02-12-2006, 10:06 AM
There's trails and some insanely flexy parts, but with all the rain we've had recently there's going to be a significant amount of mud too... It's not the gumbo crap that's fairly typical for around here though, it's more of the soupy, easy-to-wash-off kind of stuff :thumb:
I'll see if I can dig up some pics from previous excursions with my Jeepers

by the looks of the people on here, no one here has a hardcore truck or jeep (with the exception of the sammy and toastr's jeep which are pretty well setup, though still not extreeme) so you should be fine. But it is off-roading, chances are you'll get a few scratches and may break something, its all part of the fun.

not everything is like that, those jeeps are pretty nice so those are probably the hardest trails there. Most off-road parks also have ways to get around difficult areas, not sure about spring creek though.

maybe we could set this up sometime in march or april? Rough Country is coming out with a 5" lift kit that im probably going to get when it comes out (march) and some new tires (35x12.5) :Goofy:

Yeaaaah... I keep finding crap wrong on the Jeep, and I still need to bolt up my front driveshaft... new one finally arrived, the last one fractured when the U-joint's blew out. Just need the time and motivation... I need to replace the front diff yoke too, and it's being a bitch. Anyone have an air-gun and a variety of huge sockets and a torque wrench? I can provide beer money for your assistance :hs:

Alright, my Jeep's getting the front driveshaft back in on Wednesday hopefully, and I'm replacing the fuel pressure regulator tomorrow, and then I'm ready to go... I'll just have someone spot me on the tires to make sure I don't rip them to shreds on that seam.
One of my friends is checking out another offroad park... It's got a 100ft mud pit and over 35 miles of trails, I think it's $15 to get in an it's open on the weekends only. HOWEVER, if my friend and I like it, he knows the owner and the dude said we can have the keys to go when it's closed and get free run of the place. It's kinda far though, about 1.5-2 hours from Clear Lake.
Someone else will have to try and put the meet together, I've tried setting meets up a couple times for different things before and I'm not very good at it.. :hs:

If ya'll are talking about Egret Bay, stay the fuck away from there. Last time my friend and I went we spent the weekend in Galveston county.

Only thing about Spring Creek is its a navigable river now, so you can't cross it legally, which cuts off half the trails and theres game wardens out there 75% of the time! What about General Sams?
