My 05 Duramax treats me very well for work. I haul about 3600lbs (3 pallets of Mulch) on the flat bed and have upwards of 5000lbs (rock, plants, tools, ect)on the trailer on any givin day of the week. Sometimes I'll pull two pallets of rock on the trailer which come in at around 6,000 lbs by themselves.

It pulls great with only a drop in K&N filter. ANd I do this kind of pulling all week long. My avg fuel is only about 10mpg.

There all good, it just depends on your liking. put a little $ in the basic mods, intake, exhaust and programmer, and your running with the vets. I personally like the looks of the Ford best. The problem with Dodge and Chevy is the 1\2 ton and the heavy dutys look the same. Put a Cummins in a Ford Super Duty with a Chevy tranny....Now you have a truck.

Dodge.

I do agree with the cummins in a ford with a chevy (allison) tranny thing though. I've been saying that ever since the "diesel wars" started :)

Now , that I think about it, They do sort of Make the "ultimate ford"

I know, You Can order a Cummins ISB with an allison Tranny, But its only in the 650 or Higher.

the 24 valve Cummins are the best diesels ever made, they can make isane amounts hp and tourqe. The power strokes are very good too, but the Duramax just plane suck ass...

I dont know where you're coming from with that. The 24 valve is nothing compared to the 12. The 12 is easier and cheaper to modify. Also, it is a lot more reliable. The 6.0 powerstroke (2003.5-2005) is no good, some of them are great but the most arent reliable at all. The 7.3 on the other hand is a very powerful and reliable engine. If you want something very reliable go with a 12v cummins or a 7.3 PSD. I have a 2000 7.3 PSD with custom chip, intake, and exhaust and it is a very quick truck.

the 6.0 isnt bad as ppl make them seem.

blue03stang
01-29-2006, 07:19 PM
theyre really hit or miss. A friend of mine has one and its great, hes never had a single problem with it and another friend of mine has one and its always in the shop. pretty much identically modified so i dont think it has much to do with that

Din

thats with any make and model of cars/trucks though. everyone brand has some kind of problems.

blue03stang
01-29-2006, 11:09 PM
good point, but i think the 6.0's are more prone to it than anythign else. Although i have nothing to back that up, just from what ive heard (from diesel mechanics and random people)

Din
01-29-2006, 11:11 PM
yea same here i heard a bunch of stuff as well. I still went out and bought a 6.0 and so far so good.

Just like anything else out there, you spend the $$$ and you can get results. All 3 brands have trucks out there running 11 sec. passes. I know several Dodge guys personally that have there trucks in the 10's. and several Ford guys running 12's and 2 in the 11's You run up against an unassuming "farm" truck and some of them will leave you speechless. Most are 4x4's.The thing about that is, A 12 sec. 8000lb 4x4 diesel at the track is a 12 sec 8000lb diesel on the street. You cant say that about most cars. Most moded Diesels average about 40 lbs of boost, some get up around 100.

Back when Ford introduced the 6.0, it did have problems. They are worked out now for the most part. The drama is a good motor but yes, the Cummins is still considered by most to be the top dog.

i like the ford f250-350 looks the best. Hell if you dont liek the powerstroke engine throw a cummins in there. http://www.fordcummins.com/

blue03stang

f-250/350 with a 12v cummins could possibly be the best truck ever made... bulletproof chassis and engine. Too bad those engines alone cost around 12k plus some serious modifications for the swap.

best truck, yes (although thats debateable, they seem to be better made though). best engine, no.
