i dont understand why is it so hard for a Certified Pharmacy Technician to get a job at a pharmacy. i mean its not like i didnt try, any store with a pharmacy you name it, i tried it: walgreens, cvs, krogers, walmart, randalls, target. i have wasted so much time on these applications, but they said they are going to consider their clerks first to the pharmacy if they need people!!

so can anybody help a hi fellow out? im like desperate now...

I know for sure, when you apply at walgreens or cvs, your application gives you a reading score sent to the fax machine directly to the manager, and if you don't score in the "green zone," you're shit out of luck. Total bummer.

I've been working at CVS since like February. And the only reason why I got in, cause I voluntered to work in the pharmacy for a month or so, and the pharmacist referred me to the district guy. And plus, most pharmacies are strict about experience. With no experience, you'll end up in the registers all day.

I work in a 24hr store, and it sucks cause we never get all the help we need. We always summon on the front cashiers to help on the registers. Thats prolly why a cashier has more chance of working in a pharmacy. We get a set number of hours to distribute to x amount of techs, and usually the full-time techs get them all. I dont really care, since I'm part-time. But if you really want a pharmtech job, bug the hell out of the Pharmacy Manager and keep calling. Don't get your hopes too high tho, you'll feel more like a cashier than a pharm tech.

PS. CVS isn't all that great. They make you go thru loads of worthless training, tedious meetings, and CDs. I could care less what CVS stands for, and how I wanna make the patient's trip enjoyable.

Im only here, my wage is pretty high for a starter per my Pharmacist approval. :O)

shit man, thats not too low. i work for albertsons in college station and they wanted to pay me $7.74 with 1 year of experience. those cheap bastards. but if u want a tech job u need connections or build up connections. i got my first tech job my senior year in hs last year and that was only cuz i knew who to talk to. i skipped talking to the managers and talked to the district supervisor. lol. and i guess she liked me cuz i got hired on the fone. if u were in college station i could hook u up. i have like 5 job offers and they all want to hire me on the spot.

o i forgot to add that there is a waiting list for all those jobs too. so yea. just talk to ppl. it really doent hurt and it helps alot. it gets u to places

man go get a job in the oil field, you have a 90% chance of starting out at near $15/hr, and I can near promise you will be able to get a job within a couple weeks...someone recently posted up job opening for mudloggers. unless for some reason you are set on doing pharmacy work.

I know in Katy the walgreens store at mason and westheimer was looking for someone to work full time for the winter break and stay. they called me but i already had a job. If you go to A&M in college station I could get you hired on the spot at St. Josephs or at the A&M clinic

Sorry guy but if you really want to work, you'll commute for it.

I did see a couple of positions for pharmacy techs with Methodist hospital on the careerbuilder.com website.

i love my job at cvs, but i dont work at a 24 hour one (off by 10 on weekdays, 6 on weekends)... and yeah for a certified tech, 7$ is pretty low... and it is hard going into the pharmacy buisness without any background in the buisness. i worked at walmart pharmacy in the otc section before cvs, and got hired at cvs without certification.. then worked up from psa (pharmacy service associate) to tech. and the pay is good for me.. right now

apply at www.caremark.com or some other mail order pharmacy like pharmerica. I been there over a year and making $14/hr. All I do is enter RX's into the system for 8 hrs. No customers, no registers, no phone calls, no pill counting, no BS. Just data entry all day. It's boring but I'd do anything to get away from retail. I worked a year at Eckerd when i first got my cert. and that was the worst experience of my life. $8/hr to deal with pissed customers and inventory shortages out the azz. F that.
