Seems Austrailia has heard some news.....

I checked on NissanNews and didnt find anything. I also want to hear more about the S16 as they are alreay working on a new design for it. :) I really hope they bring it out.

The GTR might be pricey but its no more pricey than it is right now.

The R35 isn't out yet, unless maybe you're talking about the Skyline Coupe/G35 Coupe. Even then, it isn't the R35 GT-R. The Skyline Sedan(G35 Sedan) is called the V35.

actually the G35 is the R35 not a V35. The GTR model is not out.

The reason I believe its still a R35 is:

1) The 350Z is a Z33 not a V33 as it has the VQ engine.
2) On the Japanese Nissan site. You click skyline and the URL will move you to the R35 folder and then show you the Skyline info for the sedan. ;)

But we know what ya mean. :)

"There is no R35 GT-R. "R34" was the designation for the previous Skyline, and sequentially "R33" and "R32" came before it, so many prople are assuming the new one is an "R35." In fact, Nissan seems to be happy calling it "V35," but another point that lends to the confusion is the numeric "35" which seems to come as the next in line from the 32, 33, 34, but really it's being used as representative of the engine displacement (3.5L).

The GT-R nomenclature is currently suspended as well. Nissan Japan is still selling out the last of the R34 GT-Rs, but they have said that GT-R production will lapse for a few years. Perhaps there will be a triumphant return.. ...but we'll have to wait and see.

If you want more evidence that the G35 is the equivalent of the new Japanese Skyline, just take a peek at theirs:

I know that the G35 is the US equvilent of the Japanese Skyline. I know its not a R34 as the last R34 GTR rolled off last August.

I know the GTR is not being made, there is a concept that has been at shows. When and where it will be released is not know yet.

I thought the Japanese site said R35 but I guess I was wrong. It is in the V35 directory. and I know the V would be coming from the VQ engine and then the 35 could either be displacement or the next number in the skyline heritage. As there was a 30 and 31.

no I didnt think you were being an ass. It jsut with somewhat gray area info and people takes sides. It happens. And I am sure we can find the happy medium or the actual black/white answer. Its all good. thanks for the links :)

I like the way that pic looks too. Concept meets R34 GTR. the headlights are so much better now!

The reason Nissan probably came up with the 'V' designation is that the Skyline and GT-R will now be separate cars. Nissan needed to come up with a new designation for the Skyline sedan. Thus, you have V35 and probably R35, the 35 meaning the successor of the 34. The numbers in the designations probably have nothing to do with the displacement, because most Nissans use more than one engine. For example, the V35 Skyline sedan also uses a 2.5L VQ in addition to the 3.5L. Anyone ever heard of a V25 Skyline??;) The Z's engine is a 3.5L, but it is called the Z33 because it is the successor of the Z32. The B15 Sentra doesn't have a 1.5L engine the last time I checked. The list goes on.

What I was saying earlier is that the non GT-R Skyline Coupe/G35 Coupe might be called the R35. I'm not sure what the chassis designation is, since it's so new.

Does anyone read the magazine Car from the UK? They have a 4-page article on Carlo Ghosn, and they have a chart with the upcoming GT-R, the FX45, Micra, and Z. They're saying that the GT-R is supposed to get a twin-turbo V8...again. I wish they'd make up their minds. I was fine with the VQ33 with electronically assited turbos, but a VK**DETT would make more sense, since the rest of the Japanese competition will have at least a V8(Honda NSX), if not a V10(Unnamed Toyota car). Ghosn says they want the GT-R to be a cut-price Porsche 911(I'm assuming the turbo model), though.

Yeah, Car is awesome if you want to get a look at the global auto industry. Most of the magazines here in the US tend to stick to the US industry.

Unfortunately, I get mad reading Car, since I realize just how bad we have it here in terms of car offerengs. I'm not talking about stuff like the Lotus Elise(shoule be ready for sale in '04, btw), but stuff by GM and Ford that aren't offered here. GM and Ford's stuff in Europe is so much better than our market, because they know that the Europeans are so picky. Americans will settle, and that's why we're stuck with cars like the Cavalier, one of GM's best-sellers, which hasn't seen a completely new design for 8 years now. In comparison, Honda's best-seller, the Accord, has been completely redesigned twice in the same period of time.

But reading Car also makes me glad our government is better than theirs. Their fuel is already taxed by about 300%. It was normally around $5-6 U.S. per gallon, but now with rising fuel prices from the Gulf crisis, it must be even higher. Because fuel tax revenues are decreasing due to cars being more fuel efficient, the gov't is looking for ways to make up for it. Now people traveling to London will have to pay a traffic congestion tax on a daily basis. Imagine having to pay $5 every time you had to drive downtown.:gay:
