Superdome evacuation halted after shots are fired at helicopters
By The Associated Press
(9/01/05 - NEW ORLEANS) — The evacuation of the Superdome was suspended Thursday after shots were fired at a military helicopter, the chief of the medical evacuation service said. No immediate injuries were reported.
"We have suspended operations until they gain control of the Superdome," said Richard Zeuschlag, head of Acadian Ambulance, which was handling the evacuation of sick and injured people from the Superdome.
He said that military would not fly out of the Superdome either because of the gunfire and that the National Guard told him that it was sending 100 military police officers to gain control.
"That's not enough," Zeuschlag. "We need a thousand."
He said that shots were fired at a military helicopter over the Superdome before daybreak.
He also said that during the night, when a medical evacuation helicopter tried to land at a hospital in the outlying town of Kenner, the pilot reported that 100 people were on the landing pad, and some of them had guns.
"He was frightened and would not land," Zeuschlag.
He said medics were calling him and crying for help because they were so scared of people with guns at the Superdome.

Wrd but they are gunna get the fuck out.. noone goes insane this quickly.
no offense, but you are looking at people that have no goals in life that lives a simple life everyday. (routine) They have a nice house maybe cause it was inherited by other family that past. Your looking at a city that use to be a project and in certain area still is.
what would you do/feel.
1. water everywhere you go
2. running out of food/water
3. seeing dead body
4. people getting sick
5. people killing others
6. No one is playing
7. empty road
Those are just few off my head, but you get the idea. To some its like the end of the world. They lost everything and no reason to go on.
but they are shooting at military.. that is stupidity.
Some people panic and just want to take others down with them. Its like saying "If i cant go then no one goes"
i hope they dont set the superdome on fire
"we dont need no water let the motherfucker burn"

The first busload of New Orleans refugees to reach the Reliant Astrodome overnight was a group of people who commandeered a school bus in the city ravaged by Hurricane Katrina and drove to Houston looking for shelter.

The news I woke up to this morning is exactly what I thought it would be...
Just wait till the "poor homeless people without any hope" start to loot and car-jack in our city. There have already been reports of carjacking in Lafayette, 3 hours west of N.O.
I can only imagine it's just a matter of time before Houston is next on the list.
Trust me we will be hit by Katrina :-/

galveston couldnt handle a real mardi gras nore does it deserve it...NO has the biggest mardi gras in louisiana...not the only...houma has the 2nd biggest and my home town has the 3rd...mardi gras will go on in louisiana and houma and new roads will just have bigger ones....galveston couldnt cook the food right or play the right music...that shits in new orleans blood and even houma and new roads couldnt match it...muchless a lacking galveston

yea on the murder thing, but not the cops...i think...and last i checked everyone from new orleans got most if not all of their drugs from here in houston....so we cant say all of new orleans is murderers or even most...b/c then wed have to say all of houstin or most is drug dealers...and both are to horrible things that destroy many lives

They aren't leaving NO, they are trying to keep people in, it gives them a sense of false leadership... Now, i hope that THEY get what is coming to them.

"A police officer working in downtown New Orleans said police were siphoning gas from abandoned vehicles in an effort to keep their squad cars running, CNN's Lawrence reported.
The officer said police are "on their own" for food and water, scrounging up what they can from anybody who is generous enough to give them some -- and that they have no communication whatsoever. Police also told CNN they were removing ammunition from looted gunshops in an effort to get it off the streets."

http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209215&highlight=zombies
the message is clear and so is this growing epidemic. with a mixture of dead bodies and disease running around in new orleans, its only a matter of time before a zombie army pulls itself together and the all ready existing zombies from around the country will come to louisiana to join in. obviously they will start feeding on the people there but they are shipping everyone to the astrodome. these zombies are going to follow the food. i'm predicting a large scale invasion into texas by thousands of zombies. something has to be done or we won't make it. who will band together to fight these creatures? are you with me? possibly we could get a shelter together

They just had a lady on the phone saying that people are out of food and water and while the hotel was trying to bus people out, FEMA blocked all their buses and commandeered them.
It is fucked up that CNN can talk to people on the phone that are dying in the US from lack of food and water , Yet we can not seem to get them any help.
THis storm happened almost 5 days ago, and still no real signs of relief effort.
All I see happening is the situation getting worse, Until the majority of the people left behind are either dead from Violence or lack of supplies :(

It's gonna take a few months for cleanup, but considering Mardi Gras is one of the cities biggest events, the people who actually know Mardi Gras for it's true meaning will be there to celebrate. Mardi Gras original history stems from the Catholic religion. Tourists were the ones who made it about titties and beer. They still have the family parades on the outsides of the city. Galveston Mardi Gras will NEVER compare because they don't have the history of New Orleans. All of my family who's been talking about this plans on being back by Mardi Gras. They'll have the quarter cleaned up in a few weeks, the east bank isn't so badly damaged. Mardi Gras is in February/March. It'll be better by then, I'll be there, definitely. It's gonna be New Orleans' way of saying, you can flood the city, but you can't change the people.

Theyll rebuild Nawlins like they rebuilt Galveston
thats whats bound to happen.
Last I checked the most recent national catastrophe, a very very small percentage of people went crazy..
Compared to other catastrophes, it is kind of strange. You see people showing their best sides, but a whole lot of people showing their worst sides.

Seriously, I don't think you quite understand what the holy hell is going on over there. It's going to take 2-3 months just to get the power grids back up, and this is AFTER they solve the levy situation, then after the MONTH it takes to pump all that water out. Right there is three months. After everything is fkn dry then they can MAYBE think about rebuilding and cleaning up NO.

have you been to N.O. ? It is straight up thug. People there are not like houstonians. They are straight up ghetto.
Yes, my dad is generations back in New Orleans. Have you ever heard of Dumaine street? That's my name. Named for my family. My dad is a direct discendant of King Louis, you know the history on that, right? I've probably spent half of my life between Houston and New Orleans. To say that everyone in New Orleans is straight up ghetto is the most ridiculous thing I've every heard, I hope you were joking. The places they show on the news, 9th Ward, S. Claiborne Ave., Crescent City, those are notoriously "ghetto." They don't show Jefferson Parish, East Bank and Metarie where the sweet old ladies live, because they left in time.
have you? once or twice?? I got there at least twice a year since i was a child. It is a great city with nice people and good times. I dont know where u went, prolly just stuck around the bad part of town.
COMPLETELY AGREE.
New Orleans is dead, when are you people going to understand that? The city will not be REPAIRABLE, note that I said repairable not repaired, for at least a few months. The city will NEVER be the same. It's gone, bye bye, gone. People cannot live in the city in the condition it is in now.
It won't be that way forever. It'll take time, but the city is defiant. Hurricane Camille?

I really feel for the people what have to go through this, its hard to fathom what they will do, but these fucktards who dont give a shit, and are just theives and thugs, we dont need that bullshit in houston. The cops need to stop being pussys and start shooting people
