if its really really cheap than go for it!! just make sure the header is bigger than ur stock! other than that its no point!! :D

I would really like to replace my ex. manifold, its rusty and missing like 2 our of 3 bolts, and the paint is all chipped, in all it looks like crap
and the header is liek 180 bucks, pretty affordable, i guess, no one else had this headeron any protege forum anywhere.

actually $180 is pretty cheap!! a header is a header! as long as its bigger it will make some power.

it could come with shitty gaskets like pacesetter headers which are cheapo mild steel
shouldn't be too bad, has it been tested ? it is prolly pretty good at first but i would be concerned about reliability issues

youll probably make less hp w/ it.
poor header design =poor performance:duh:

guess ill wait for something else to come along, i was hoping someone with some experience or something could tell me about the APC headers, but i guess no one wants to buy them, lol
I checked the Honda/Acura Forums, no one has any experience with them

if the fitment of their header is anything like the fitment of everthing else they make, you'll have 1 inch gaps all over the place, and they'll corrode because of the heat and melt all over the place or something.

whats an EGR?

The 93-97 Bosal Probe/MX6/626 header will bolt to your head. I don't know about the fitting with the exhaust. Dynos on 1st gen FS motors yield around 5-10whp per dyno charts
AWR also sports some high dollar headers designed for the World Challange Touring Proteges.

I wouldn't use APC unless it was given to me. . . They are a "show" company not a performance company. Their R&D is null.

this is the only problem I'm having with the whole header subject
This design eliminates the stock converter. Our cars use different engine management systems and it is not known if this can be used on a stock system. :duh:
theres a guy with a custom header on the protege forums he got 10 whp gain out of it

The 96-97 Probe/MX-6 have the pre-cat just like the Proteges do. . . There is not an ECU compatibility problem. . The problem is making sure your O2 sensors are monitoring a catalytic converter otherwise your ECU starts spittin out "codes" If you are concerned about a check engine light you address the problem by relocating the stock O2 sensor before and after a primary cat in the exhaust. If you do not have a primary cat, install one. O2 sensor bungs can be purchased from summit or jegs.
Thats why OBDI cars are so nice. . . they don't have as much of the emmission garbage as the OBDII cars.

ok so in retard terms that means
after the header i need to get my o2 sensor put in somewhere in the exhaust so i dont go and have my Check Engine Light going off right?
and I WILL NEED a primary cat so i can get the o2 sensor in there, correct?

oh ok, i looked it up, the sensor will just screw in to the bunghole
and i can get the sensor welded in while getting the custom piping.
bunghole
:roflmao:

Generally all the FS motor headers will have 1 O2 bung. That one you will simply install your upstream O2 sensor in. No biggie. That is the important O2, as its used for fuel and timing corrections by the ECU. . . The downstream O2 is used to monitor the effeciency of the catalytics. . . If there are no catalytics before the 2nd O2 sensor, then effeciency is 0%, so the ECU "says: hey repair your cats because they are not working"
The 96-97 Probes/MX6's had two cats, and the header only eliminated the 1st one. I don't know about your Protege. If you have two cats, then simply have a O2 bung welded downstream of the remaining cat in the exhaust (as the one of the OE manifodl is eliminated), and extend the wiring, and viola. . . you will keep your ECU happy. If not, you can pick up a high flow cat and have a shop splice it into your exhaust, as well as weld in a bung to install your downstream O2.
Does that make since?
