My friend owns a '97 V6 Mustang and was wanting to convert the automatic to a manual. I was curious if there were any problems with doing this. I know it's been done, but just wondering if there are any problems that would make him think twice about it.

Unless he is going to swap a v8 in, or really build the v6, I don't really see a point to spending all that $$$. But it has been done before, do some searches on www.stangnet.com www.corral.net www.modulardepot.com Most likely you'll find some sort of a swap guide.

He is planning on getting a GT in a few months and using the v6 as his daily driver and was gonna get stick to get used to learn it before he gets the GT.

mmm i would just save the money and learn on the gt, or find someone elses beater car to practice on, cause it is not gonna be cheap...

Ditto on what he said. It would cost way too much to swap in a manual just to sell the car. How about he sells the v6 and learns on a beater for a while? Like a old honda or toyota?

No he's gonna keep the v6 and have a GT. The v6 is gonna be his daily. I agree with the automatic thing. It was just a thought. Thanks for the help.
