it's just a spring that has a set tension inside of a diaphram. The more spring pressure, the higher the boost you can run since it'll be keeping the wastegate flapper door from opening and releasing the pressure created by the exhaust. Usually there is a hose that attatches to a diverter, so if you press against the spring while sealing the port where the vacuum hose goes you should get some pressure.

so basically the only thing that can go bad on a wastegate is the spring? so the wastegate its self without the spring cant go bad right?

take it to a shop that has a vaccuum pump that can test if it is opening or not ASAA did mine ask for Marcus

I want to check mine too, to see if it works and to see at what pressure it starts to move/open the WG. will a regular automotive vacume tester from autozone do the trick?

I would assume so if it can pull that amount of vacuum needed

sometimes you'll get boostcreep or spikes.

yeah, if your wastegate is going bad, it will probably be letting you hit more boost than you have set by your boost controller.

if the diaphram hs a rip in it the wastegate cant sense correct boost if at all.

Integral or external waste gate? If it integral to check and see if it is leaking is to blow on the nozzle the vaccum line runs to.(not the one on the compressor housing) If you are able to blow any air through then it is bad.

i still got my supra i would never sell my baby. i'm fucking around with this integra so i got something to do when i'm bord. plus i want to see how much potental these motors really have. since honda & acuras cost way way less then a supra, i would rather break something on the honda motor then the supra motor......
