I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be. its a civic ex the gears go in and when i press the gas the tach and speedo move. im guessing its the clutch but the car went from running fine to not doing anything, so im not too sure.

typically clutches fail by wearing down then eventually not working. If it's the linkage or something You wouldn't be able to put it in gear. How are you able to put it in gear. Could be the pressure plate is stuck, but it's unlikely.
Just to be sure....I'm not sure how car savvy you are. It is a manual transmission right?

yea its a manual tranny and its not the linkage. and like i said i was driving the car the clutch was gripping good. i shifted from first to second and all of a sudden nothing. the wierd thing is while the car is in gear the speedo still moves and the car just sits in place.

clutch fluid? i think you mean tranny fuild buddy and i really doubt its the throw out bearing, something similar happend to gumbygreen where he was doing a burnout and the differential split and cracked the casing of the tranny and ultimatly screwing him over, although i doubt it is that see if your low on tranny fluid and double check your axels as everyone above said,

Ya man the hydrolic clutch fluid would not make a single bit of diffrence in this situation. And i dont think your low on oil in the tranny eather. My best guess is you toosted your clutch. Or axel broke or something in the tranny but do you hear any strang noices(sp) coming form the tranny if not then you should be fine. Too see about the axel well thats pretty simple man just LOOK. If the axel is there and the boot isnt busted or anything then its the clutch.

yes dude, cluch fluid.. unless you still use cable tranny.. if you are out of a tranny fluid you will know by the rattle sound it make as you are runing.. or if the trany is burned or broken just push the car a litl.. you will feel went it get stock or pop the gears.. cause can be a broken gear also.

Sounds like a throw out bearing, typical signs show what you explained. Tach and speedo still move while the car itself doesnt...Have a local shop check it out if you can afford it.

do you even know what a throw out bearing does??? there doesn't even have to be one installed for the car to move. the throw out bearing engages the clutch, thats it. it doesn't make the car move. one being bad will mean that the car won't go into gear because you can't engage the clutch. that's not the problem here. his car will go into gear, and even activate the vehicle speed sensor which is located on the diff, so you know everything up to that point is working properly. what's after the diff? :eek3: the axles.
what happens when an axle pops out? the car will go into gear, rev, everything, just won't move. hmm.....do ya think that might be the problem????

Those are not symptoms of a bad throw-out bearing. At all.
