Hate to tell you but SS brake lines are useless unless you're road racing, and possibly dangerous becauses they don't expand and take longer to heat up. Even the brake fluid isn't necessary unless road racing for the same reasons.

Are you a newbie with tiny bewbies? SS brake lines are jacketed with stainless steel braids, which prevents expansion and bursting. You don't want them to expand, that's the main point of the SS braided lines.

And you drive hard enough on the street to NEED them? No, don't think so. And no, I'm no newb. It takes experience to know SS lines aren't necessary for street use whatsoever. Of course if you want to anway by all means go ahead. Post the pics when you wreck on here though k.

Why would anyone wreck a car for having stainless steel braided brake lines? They do everything the stock lines do with the benefits of not expanding and longevity. This means they will still have more predictability with time and abuse than the factory lines. Please note most of the brake lines in a car's system is hard non-flexible line.
A 10 year old car will need brake line replacement anyway, what are you proposing, to spend money on factory rubber replacements?
And yes, you are a newbie. Chances are I was working on cars before you had a learner's permit.

You're right, SS lines aren't necessary for street use but it certainly isn't a harmful modification. I'm having a hard time understanding why they would make someone crash.

Are you serious? The response and overall feel drastically improved when I went to SS lines. 'Not necessary for street use' and 'going to wreck your car because of it' are two terribly different things. I don't understand your logic in any way. I don't think its a matter of NEEDing them, I think its a matter of what people think their cars should feel like. With brake line expansion, fluid effort is wasted that could be directly transmitted to the calipers' clamping power... I don't understand how all the brake fluid actually working for what your foot is telling it to do is a bad thing. How can the lines themselves possibly cause a wreck... its not as if the lines are like "oh you pressed the pedal well shit man I'M LOCKING UP. FOREVER."
Oh, and yeah, like Al mentioned, the majority of stock braking system lines are solid tubes. So... what?

What the fuck.... SS brakes lines are suppose to give you a better break feel.. It has nothing to do with streetabilty.. or heat, or anything else. Where do you get your information? www.nigerianinformation.com? WTF? read up. Why would you want your brake lines to expand? It doesnt make sense to me...

LOL damn you people get touchy pretty damn fast. And the information came from the Supra forums in which list members had trouble using them for street use, and a couple people crashed because the breaks didn't heat up quickly enough. For track use yea they're great, for street use 1000HP cars aren't getting them, so I don'tsee the need for the either.

The fluid in the lines still has nothing to do with heat. The fluid is INSIDE, the heat comes from pad friction with the rotor.

I only get touchy when people try to pass off bad information. It starts a chain reaction of internet gurus giving misinformation. Pretty soon the whole site has zero credibility and no sponsors will want to contribute. All because of your newbie ass.
I'll explain your Suprafolk's problem: The brakes not heating up quickly enough is a result of using race-only pads on the street. Some do require a certain temperature to be functional.
Just like a short shifter, a strut tower bar, and low profile tires, stainless steel braided brake lines aren't necessary for street cars ... but using them on the street isn't wrong. Keep learning, do less teaching.
The fluid inside does, left that out by mistake, but feel free to go suck a dick since you're trying so hard to be one.
Uhm, you don't want the brake fluid to get hot, that's why racing fluid has such a high boiling point. Sounds like the problem these supra people are running into is that they are running a racing brake pad and those need time to heat up in order to work properly. And yes, I agree that you should NEVER run a racing pad on the street. Not only do they not function when cold they tend to wear out rotors faster.

AHAHAHAHAHA.
Right, because the lines are what heat up, with all the friction they create... uh... letting the fluid... pass through them... that makes friction right? RIGHT?!
The reason their brakes aren't heating up is because they're probably using race-only carbon or kevlar brake pads that require like 700 degrees before they start operating correctly. If they had used a street/race pad like Hawk HPS's they probably would not have wrecked their '1000hp' street Supra.

Bwhahahhahha...
The only downside to stainless steel lines is that they have to be replaced more often due to the movement causing abrasion of the braid (dirt in the braids)

That helps, but you still have a bending force from turning the wheel. The lines don't have the same level of give so bending forces add alot of stress to them.
