My dad drives a 92 Accord and he's having some tranny (automatic) problems. He say's when he drives for awhile, the rpm would just climb and he would not go faster. Then he'd let off the gas for awhile it all would be back to normal. He took it to some guy and he said that the filter is dirty and needed to be replaced. The dirty filter was preventing the oil from getting to the tranny correctly. To my knowledge, Honda transmissions do not have filters. Can anyone confirm?

Also, has anyone experienced a similar problem? Any ideas on how I can fix this? Could the transmission ECU cause this problem? I would assume that the transmission is going out. Any help is appreciated. :thumb:

sister had the same car and the problem was not enough transmission fluid, hers actually had a leak, but not having enough fluid will cause the auto tranny to do that. theres a dipstick on it, pull it and check it out

yea could be a cause of low tranny fluid

I'd have that car taken to a proper transmission shop. DIRT CAN NOT ENTER THE TRANSMISSION EASILY. If there are metal shavings or the fluid is shimmering silver, the valve bodies need to be looked at and see if there are any valves that are too loose inside the bore, sticking. Please don't go to that shop anymore... take it somewhere else that has people that can recognize transmission problems. The tranny is obviously slipping and needs to be looked out properly to determine if the slip is in the valve body or in the friction rings, or low fluid level.

I checked the fluid and that's definitely not the problem. Anyone else?
