what would be the best tires for my car? i have a 99 prelude, right now i have a toyo on the left front that has an air bubble in it (only about 2 months old) so it, and the 2 rear ones need to be replaced. on the front right is another toyo thats only about 2 months old also so i will be keeping that one. one thing ive noticed about the toyos is that they drive kind of weird... for me it feels like i dont have as much control over the car.... it seems like its just kind of gliding....and it seems like it takes more to steer the car than it did b4 the toyos. anyways, any help is appreciated! thanx!

nah, i had a kumho b4 and it blew... my friend had some kumhos too and they all blew, with pretty much everyday driving, same tread as the others, and the others were fine

Ive got 712's on my car. Never had a problem and I have 39,XXX miles on them. IF you knew how I drive (VERY aggresive) I am definately happy how many miles I got on them. Time to get some new ones though.

I just got some es100s for auto crossing. Wont last you long, and are loud, but they grip like hell.

are you running aftermarket wheels or OEM ones?

i've heard that directional tires can give a weird feeling in terms of handling and whatnot but i may be wrong. but yea i don't see how you and your friend blew yoru khumo's like that. I've had Khumos be4 and they last me a pretty decent amount of time (when teh car wasn't messed up suspension wise of course) but i guess that's just me.

i say try Prelli's(sp) or Nitto 450s for some reason i like nitto's mroe than i thought i would. I'm gonna try soe Proxy's soon so i guess i'll see how i like em......

450s are teh crappiest tires ever. es100 seem to be a good street tire, i just hate them in the rain when you drive over standing water. another choice could be the bfg g-force.

i would say kumho supra ecsta 712 or yokohama avs es100. you say that you don't like kumho so go with the yokohama tires.

I drive pretty hard and i love my kumhos. I have the ecsta 712s and for the money they are pretty good and have great wet traction. i can't see paying alot for tires when i'm just gonna burn em up again but these are lasting me.

So far I like my Falken Azenis Sports 205/50/15... 200/A/A = Fairly soft compound & less than $85.00ea

They probably won't last tooooo long cause the treadwear rating is only 200. O'well, i like them and will continue to run them until they run out of stock. I think they have been discontinued but are still in stock for the time being.

Most (if not all) AVS ES100s = 300/AA/A

i had kuhmo's for the longest time..i ran it so long..that there was no treading left..it looked like slicks and the funny thing is that i had about 9 nails in all of them and there were areas where you could still see the metal lining in the tires of the tread.. so yah

BS Potenza S03.

Best tires I've ever owned. I've had:

Cumhos 711 and 712
Michelin Eagles
Nitto 555zr
Michelin some street tires
Advan 032R (better grip than S03, but only lasted me 6000 miles)
Falken 512
BS Potenza RE71 (discontinued)

I've got falken 502's on the 19's and the 512's on the 15's and I love both sets. Great on wet and dry and grip well when you feel spirited.

missed the edit: Actually everything Nitto makes is shit. There are many better alternatives, I dont understand how Nitto got a good rep. with all these better tires out there. The 555(R?) is totally dwarfed by the BF T/A and the 450 is just a plain sucky tire.

Pilot Sports are decent
Yoko EVS100 are decent
SO3 is right above the MPS
Azenis are unbeatable for their price and better than EVS100 by a long shot
Any of the Advan tires we can get in the states rock(AO32 or AO48)

WERD I had Kumho's on my old Prelude wheels and never had a problem. They were the 712's I believe. I have Kumho Supra's on my new wheels and they seem to ride real nice and they grab the road even better. I know my dad has some Pilots on his Porshe and they are awesome but I like my Kumho's.

Tires, with the same speed rating, are generally all the same. Only variations are with road noise and things like that. I've had the most expensive, and also the cheapest Z rated tires you can get, and damn if I couldn't tell a difference between them. I went through several years where I was buying new tires for the back every 2 months.
