I dont know where to post this, so here may do!!

Just put a new headgasket on my car, and everything seams ok except for I am throwing a trouble code 22, and sometimes, it will hit the rev limiter @ 7000 instead of the normal 8300 or whatever it is. And I think when it does it it's not engaging VTEC.

Does that make sence to anyone, and can anybody help?

its the variable valve timming and control pressure switch. take apart the vtec solenoid and when u remove it theres going to be a plunger. push it in and check and see if it has free movement. if not thats your problem

He's right, 22 = VTEC electronic pressure switch.

So you dont think it has anything to do with the headgasket just being done? Because it didn't do it before. But I will try that tomorrow, and see what happens. Thanks

Ok I took apart the vtec solenoid and the plunger does have free movement. I cleaned it, and stuck it back together, and its still doing the same thing. Is there anything else anybody can think of?

sure its the right head gasket?
have a singal from the pressure switch at the engagment point?
ground is tight on the thermo housing?

I will check the ground and the signal, but it still engages vtec, just not all the time. Mainly it dosent hit vtec when Im crusin at like 70 MPH and kick it into 3rd gear and step on it. But if im leaving a light in 1st and i step on it, it goes all the way to 8300, with vtec.

The gound is tight, and i have a signal. I dont know if it was the right headgasket, but it doesn't leak, and runs fine besides the vtec problem. Is there anything else that it could be?

sounds like a loose wire. did you solder and heatshrink everything? use a oem pin for the ecu pinouts? oem clips for the vtec and oil pressure switchs?

All the wires and clips are factory. The only wire work i did was extend the IACV clip for the Install of the S/C.

it has something to do with when you replaced the head gasket. make sure it was the right one and nothing is pluggin up any of the oil passages leading to the head.

my h22 was like this after it got built, no vtec, kept throwing vtec codes, sol. and pressure switch. i changed my head and it still was not working. i got tired of it and did the lsvtec oil lines feeding the head.... that fixed it

never knew y my vtec wasnt working. i even stuck my old head on another car and it worked fine. something with the block and oil passages when i got it built.

maybe you're lpw on oil :yeahno: if all else is good then it could be an oil pressure problem...
