i've had michelin pilot sport and yokohama avs es100 tires. the pilot sports were a very very awesome tire. they gripped very well in wet and dry conditions. the only thing about them is that they are freaking expensive but they are great tires.

the es100 is a great tire as well for a very cheap price. they grip well however they don't last very long. they wear down pretty quickly.

what tires have you guys used and what were your thoughts on them?

yokohama yk420 - decent tire for stock wheels, price was ok, does ok in dry/wet.. mediocre overall
yokohama avs es100 - good for the price, but wear too quickly
dunlop sp sport 9000 - sick tire.. awesome in rain, awesome on dry pavement.. wears slowly, downside is that its expensive
dunlop sp sport maxx - same as the 9000 except a diff tread pattern and a lil bit more $$

Yokohama ES 100s

Pretty decent, I like them, I haven't had any other kind of tires long enough to compare or judge. I need to buy new rear tires soon due to inner tread wear "camber wear" and I'll say right now that I'm probably going to try something that is going to last me much longer. These have lasted me over a year though...

...I feel bad though becuase I recently did about 20 minutes worth of e-braking action in the rain and burning tires in the front at 6k+ rpm while the car was still rolling backwards after the 180 degree turn

kuhmo ecsta supra 712's-good in the wet, and decent in the dry
potenza re92's-better than the 712's in wet, not as good in the dry

:eh: you got had . . . . . :eh:
even if you blew out sll four (at the same time) and had a warranty it would come out to the same amount if you just bought them without the warranty in the first place . . . :eh: :eek3: :ugh2: :(

Federal tires, they are cheap and realiable. I never have any kind of camber problems on them and they dont wear out fast either. To me tires are tires people make fun of me all the time because they are no name tires but I dont care.

unless the warranty was 130 per tire, i dunno... :eh: still, for 231 per tire, you could have gotten a MUCH better tire.

Kumho 711's - ok for a cheap sport tire, deep tread depth but wore fast

Bridgestone RE010 (Acura NSX only) on 94 accord (7 years ago)- sick ass tire, over $220 each, but not worth the $$$, treadwear 120!!!!!!!!!!!

Pirelli P7000 Super Sports - good traction, comfortable ride, sidewall could have been harder

Stock Advan A046 on Evo- WOW! Stiffest damn tires I have ever rode on, ever, and I've been in serious cars with serious suspensions. Side wall is like a rock, even when I bought the car and it was low at 25psi. Still, way expensive, but DAMN what a ride. Treadwear is 160 or 140 but I'm at 12K miles and tread is halfway done, so not bad.

over $1000 bucks here. :wompwomp: Running on Falkens. Its bad ass IMO. ran over a damn reinforcemnt bar on the freeway this past saturday and held up like a champ!! it took a big chunk out of the tire and still held air, and nothing happend to my wheels. can't say the same for my damn bumper, foglights, and side skirts.

Bridgestone Potenza RE040: Stock IS300 tires: gone before 20k miles.
Yokohama AVS ES100: Gone at 20k.
Federal S595: Rear were gone at 5k miles (bad alignment)
Front: still going after 10k and no signs of wear.
Kuhmo Ecsta 711: Rear, going after 5k miles.

Tires i want again: Yokohama AVS ES100, not a noisy tire compared to the federals, and not as expensive as the Bridgestones. Not as pricey either, cost somewhere around $100 for 215/45/17.

EDIT1:Total cost of tires: $600-$700 for two and a half sets. :D

EDIT2: I've only had the car for 11months... i do a lot of driving, thats why i go through them so fast.

215/45/17 Dunlop FM901. felt great, loved the grip they provided. combined with the super light weight rims i tried them on, they are pretty good.

235/40/18kumho ecsta 711's, decent tire for price, kinda suck for performance tires, great for daily driving.

michelin pilot's- can't say to much only rode on em 1 day, sidewall felt pretty stiff, but kinda pricey

the tires i want to but and try next are azenis rt-615and some advans(not sure which one)

Nitto 555 Extreme... Good dry tires, BUT JESUS they suck in the rain... good treadwear.

Fuzion ZRI... my current tire, replaced the Nitto. GREAT DRY TRACTION... impressive wet traction, great treawear as well. price also couldn't be better, my 225/50/16 were $85 a piece shipped to my door by tirerack. I WILL BUY THESE AGAIN... and if your wondering what the fuck is Fuzion? its a new performance line by BF Goodridge

Yokohama A520-awesome tires. I don't even know if they make them anymore but they were great especially on wet pavement.

Hancook ??? have had them for 2 weeks and drove in wet weather yesterday. I was pretty happy w/ the way it handles the road. I'll get the exact name of the tire when I get home.

Firestone FR 680 - OEM, thanks for nothing Honda. Could not wait for these to wear out.
Goodyear Eagle GT HR - Better than the Firestone but...it is still a M+S tire. Okay for a cheap daily driver.
Dunlop FM 901 - Really good in the wet, no better than the Goodyear in the dry. Single ply side wall rolls over alot when driven hard, no good at an autocross. Inexpensive though.
Falken RT-215 - Autocross tire, great improvement on the FM 901. Was a good cheap tire.
Bridgestone Turansa ER 30 - OEM, not bad at all, not a very high tread wear number. Kinda pricy to replace in kind.
BFG Touring T/A - They were dry rotted when I got the car. Need to replace.
Michelin MXV - OEM, thanks for nothing VW. Used up fast and scarry in the rain after 10,000 or 15,000 mi.
Michelin Hydroedge - The wife likes them...

I want to try some Avon's, or maybe ContiSports. Anyone using the Falken RT-615's yet?

depends on the width of the rim and what size your stock tire is
