wrd, stock h22 ringlands go bye bye REAL quick once they see boost. Longest I have heard an h22 last with a small t3/t4 on 7psi was 6-8 months

there are tuners who have claimed 12-14 on ther own vehicles, one of them worked for AEM i beleive and another is a shop owner in NE.

don't waste your time boosting a stock h22, that's asking for problems. the only thing that it can handle reliably and for a significant amount of time is something like a Greddy kit. Then you'll want more power, then you'll have to do some work to your motor to handle the increase in power which will lead to you working on your tranny which will lead to work on your suspension which will lead to work on your brakes....etc. Just get the motor work done before simply slapping on a turbo "kit".

the most important thing about boosting anything is to have good fuel management and tuning. Look into some of the sponsors on the site, as they are very good at building and tuning turbo cars.
btw I'd prolly boost 12-14 lbs max on a stock motor, given that I have good fuel management and tuning.

For the record, since this thread actually got somewhere, I was j/k. Greddy kits boost 6-7 lbs for the H22 if I remember correctly so you'd be safe in that range for a long time. Too bad it will still run a 13.

I tuned One-Fab's T4 car, stock H22A powered civic that made 486whp @ 19psi and ran a 11.2 @ 128. It still has 230compression across the board after 30-40 dyno pulls over 400whp and 4 trips to the track with about 20 passes in the 11s.

LOL why get a turbo kit just to be disappointed. Take your time, do the motor, so when you finally DO get a kit, it won't be a disppointing POS.

most places say you had to sleeve the block to go with aftermarket pistons but je/srp makes the pistons for the h22 for turbo cars with stock sleeves. just another idea.
plenty of power can be made with a h22 turbo. we are about to start a h22 turbo lude in the next week or so and when its tuned we will post up the dyno #'s on the neptune system.

I thought for JE Pistons you had to sleeve? That is what I was told by a rep from JE when I was looking into their pistons. I don't know though, just what I thought and was told. Oh well, I'm finally going to get my car running again after the work that was done to the motor, next step: boost??

out of the book pistons yes. they can custom make them to work in a non-sleeved block aswell

That’s funny cause mine went 2 and a half years with $50,000 + miles. This was 4 years ago. 9 -11 lbs on a stock motor / ecu…
Tuning is key

do you ahve direct proven experience with cars that have done that? so far every car i ahve seen teardown pics of the "FRM safe" pistons have had scoring on the cylinder walls.

that's what I have seen. But sometimes some people do have the car with JE pistons w/stock sleeves for a while but sooner or later it goes to hell.

i ahve been on teh phone with wiseco who i feel makes a superior piston, and they even advertised heavily that they could produce a FRM safe piston, they now recommend sleeves. Je has never as far as i have seen in real life produced such a piston that works. Mahle supposedly has one but again there is no real life proof to be seen. Jun pistons are the only forged piston so far that has ben proven to work, at least proven to work in real life rather than a technical document, or according to a technical sales person. And Jun doenst even make their own pistons, the pistons are Cosworth pistons made to Jun specs...

okie sir. this is all we do daily. We have a set on order now and your more then welcome to drop by and check them out.
We already have a fully build h22 with je pistons that has already been tore down 2 times with no problems with walls at all. Curretly building 2 more for turbo applications with im sure the same outcome as the all motor running 12.1.
Ill be happy to keep you updated in the status of each car and the dyno plots aswell for each since all 3 will vary.

cool that was more like what i wanted to know, i work on hondas for a livign as well, and have been following the tech info and sales info for the past 2-3 years regarding forged pistons in frm blocks. I havent yet seen anyone reporting positive results they could prove.
Well... the words "fully buil[t]" kind of implies resleeving the last time I checked. I'm with v4lu3s... although it's been quite some time since I've looked back into the issue of forged pistons in FRM blocks, I too, have read and seen dramatic effects of these 'coated' pistons in FRM blocks.
I mean... I, too, own an H22A and would love to boost it the "right way" without having to resleeve (Just can't afford that much downtime). So if there were a way us H22 owners could have forged pistons with stock sleeves... that would be fantastic... I just haven't seen it...
Unless by "fully buil[t]" you mean that they have stock sleeves?
