You dont need a obd 1 scanner, just jump the service connector and count the bleeps. You need a obd 2 scanner cause it displays values of various sensors. Obd 1 does not do this.

Snap On makes a scanner that will read obd1. it can tell you sensor values and such. It plugs into the 3 prong clip next to the one that you can jump over yourself. BE PREPARED TO PAY!!!!!!!!!!!

go to ur passinger side door and on the floor panel where the carpet there should be 2 plugs, one has 2 prongs and one has 3, get a paper clip bend it to a U and connect the outer prongs on the 3 prong plug, turn the key to ON and count the number of times the check engine light blinks or the ECU, if ur throwing a code it should blink anyways btu if u want to check do that :thumb:

Actually, i have used one of these, and they rarely work with obd 1, just jumper it, thats what most techs at shops do. You can not read live values on a obd 1 ecu unless the duplex mode has been changed and a serial or usb connector is put in, this is datalogging.
