Tranny Problem

I just finish a swap for a best friend of mine from Waco, everything was good yesterday. The motor runs good, went through all gears good. He called me today tell me the 5th gear alway pop out for no reason, it pops every 2-3mins...(driving 65mph on the highway, on 5th gear), I am not 100% what the problem is, hes running GSR in Eg +LS shift Linkage + ebay short shifter...

Any helps will be great, thanks

I told you what it was. Most trannys pop out of gear because of bent or misadjusted shift linkage and/or the motor rocking too much. Notice how your shifter dosent sit right?

The shifter is I install the short shifter the wrong way, I already swap the other way last night, but it still does the same thing... It started actin like that after we raced that night, before that we drove around for 30-40mins, it was fine... I am gonna to take it off and see what the problem is tonight...

Try checking the tranny fluid , when my friends did this it was because he didn't have enough fluid in his tranny.

yep, do the tranny fluid first. they will pop out of 5th if theyre low.

i would think a bad synchro could cause this also

After the tranny fluid, if it still pops out 5th, then my friend is gonna help me rebuild the 5th gear synchro for me... Thnx again mike for ur help

ok first off honda linkage's arnt even adjustable. i would change the fluid and if that dont work that gear syncro is gone. reason being is that the syncro is what the selector holds onto while in gear.

I was sayin shift linkages in general, some are adjustable. Bent linkage is a possibility though, when the motor was pulled it could of got messed up. You would want to check this first before sayin its the blocker rings. Try the cheaper first.

Ive had the same problem b4 and it was tranny fluid.

make sure you put the front torque mounts on, i did a ls swap into a del sol and it would pop out of 5th gear. we had torque mount inserts ordered so the two front ones were not on. as soon as i put them back on the problems stopped.

It was the tranny fluid, I added 3 qt HG tranny fluid in the tranny, he said the car won't pop out 5th no more(50miles test drive around bw8)...
