a year ago one of my tires wore out pretty bad and i went to discount tire to replace it. i purchases a pair. These pair of tires came with a warranty on them including 2 free patches and 2 free tire replacement if lets say one goes flat. Well yesterday one of my tires went flat from a nail. my car is dropped. I went to discount tire today and told me that they won't replace the tire for free because my car was dropped. And i ask them "even though the real problem my tire is flat is because this nail?" And they said yea. they added that the inner wear of the tire cause by the negative camber is the problem. So am i being scammed or they telling me the truth?

whoa, since when did discount tire start voiding warranties????!!! is the nail in the inner rim area where the camber caused the wear? either way, ask for your money back on that extra warranty since they don't want to fix it.

read the agreement that you signed. most likely it says something about lowered cars in it, in which case you can't really do anything about it. just take the tire and rim in alone and tell them what happened. they don't need to know your car is lowered.

the warranty probably covers the tire until the tread is gone. If they measure the depth of the tread where it's worn out from having an improper allignment, it's possible the tread pattern isn't deep enough for the tire to be covered. It seems like they should fix the tire if a nail got in it, though. There's more to it that this. Do you have pics of your tire?

just take the tire or tires off and get a friend to take up there to get it fixed. :thumb:

i doubt the issue is actually the car being lowered but like some1 mentioned b4 if the nail in the tire is in the inside area of the tire where the tread is too worn than they cant fix it....also if the tread is low enough they wont replace it either....therefore, taking the tire alone wont help b/c they know by looking at the tire the car is either dropped or needs an alignment....i used to work there... you should try a diff location, chances are unless your tire is really worn you can prob get it fixed...

Just to let you know... alot of the milage warranties as well as the warranties on tires these days are pro rated. Meaning they give you an adjustment based on the amount of tread remaining.

I think this was put in place to curb alot of the "I need new tires so I'll run over some nails" mentality.

yea but there is something about wear, for future reference, as long as it hasn't hit the wear marker, i think it should be ok

Lets get a lil more info... Is the tires worn because of the camber? I have friends who work at discount tire and see jokers come in all the time who "have nails" in thier tires and want a new one but thier tires are just thrashed.

The way the see it, you could have put that nail there for all they know. No reason for them to cover some guy who has fucked up suspention that screws up tires who could have put a nail in his tire to get new tires.

Just giving a opposing viewpoint.

No i wasn't trying to scam them by purposely putting a nail in my tire. And i can see what you are saying bout trying to get another tire. My tire still has alot of tread left. though the inner wear due to me lowering my car is noticeable, it isn't significan't. I mean i took the tire itself and to another discount tire to see what they can do and they didn't mention anything bout my tire being toooo worn out. they jusst patched it up for me.

As far as i know, Discount Tire replaces the tire if it is not fixable. If you have really bad camber wear or the tire is already at the end of its life, then they wont replace it.

They are trying to get out of giving you a free thingie. The neg. camber doesn't matter, really. Alot of cars come stock w/ negative camber, and like hell that's going to void a tire warranty. on top of that, i assume ur tires were somewhat low profile. Lower profile tires are intended to go on cars w/ neg. camber. The mod doesn't matter. Chances are, the guy thought he could try to be a smartass but is now failing miserably...

Ya sometimes the people at the front desk at Discount Tire, they suck ass, glad you got your problem taken care of though. Bah, it just really pisses me off when they can throw such bullshit in your face without even feeling any guilt in how much crap they are saying..

Sorry, I think I might have wrote it where I blamed you for trying to scam them. My appolgizes. What I was trying to say is people out there DO do that and thats why they are usually unwilling to help people who have worn tires from camber.

Glad they were able to help you out. Good luck with the care and remeber. Rotate your tires often.. :thumb:

wow, so many people that don't know what the fuck they're talking about in this thread.

1. discount tires road hazard warranty is pro-rated. meaning, the less tread you have (on ANY part of the tire), the less they'll give you for a new tire. ex. if you have 11/32" of tread left and get a nail in the sidewall, you get a free tire, if you have 2/32" left (officially bald) then you don't get jack shit, because you needed to BUY another tire anyways.

2. when they said it was the negative camber causing your inner tire wear, they were wrong, it's because of your toe. but the inner tire wear is still your fault, and again, if it's below 2/32" tread depth, they cannot warranty the tire.

3. ArcangelX please stop. you don't know what the fuck you are talking about, and are only making yourself look stupid. please don't spread any more misinformation.

pic of tread?

they also can refuse to repair an illegal tire, cuz then they'd open themselves up to responsibilty of repairing a bad tire.

i worked for NTB for 5yrs.
