View Full Version : New car???

Ok, I'm planning on getting a new car soon, but I have no clue what to get. This is what I'm looking for:

1) comfortable seating for at least 4 full-grown adults.

2) I plan on fixing it up, but it probably won't happen for quite a while. I would like something that offers decent stock performance.

3) I won't be able to do much about the exterior for a while so I would like something that looks good stock.

4) I'm all about a high-quality sound system, but I'd also like to be able to actually USE my trunk. I would like at least about...4 cubic feet AFTER putting in the subs? (I currently have 2 JBL 12" subs, but I plan to upgrade ASAP)

5) I want it to be as cheap as possible.

6) I would prefer something around 2002-2004 model year.

I like what the Altima 3.5SE has to offer in terms of styling and performance, but I would like other (cheaper if possible) options. Any suggestions would be EXTREMELY helpful whether they fit all my criteria or not. Thanx in advance.

Mazda 6s costs less and looks a WHOLE LOT better than the boat of an Altima:thumb:

it looks alot hotter than any other car in the market, good v6 sedan power for low 15s in a 5 spd.

Mazda 6s is THE best all around sedan in the price, good handling, good power, great looks, what more can you ask for?:thumb:

hey thanks all! I'm really liking that 6. Sweet suggestion! Any further input would still be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

WRX wagon.

More room for the subs.
You might be able to haggle with the dealer on one. The wagons probably aren't selling as well as the sedans.
Looks...I dunno, it doesn't have the flares that the sedan has.

Dude, seriously, if you're buying a new car you have two choices. WRX or SRT-4. Personally, I like the WRX better, but it is a little steeper priced than the Dodge. The 6 is nice, but I would rather drive an SRT...but most definitely look at WRX's. They're so much fun...

anything below 30K but as close to 20K (or less) as possible.

i definately plan on at least test driving the WRX, but right now i'm just trying to get info. i wanna be totally sure about whatever I chose because I don't plan on getting anothe car for a LONG time. I don't want to get something that may be nice now, but will cost me an arm and a leg down the road.

WRX rated, your car is ugly, has no sunroof and your stereo is horrible. Neon is just as bad. Please do not mislead this guy.

the srt4 will use a totally new setup if i'm not mistaken right? i'd rather pick up a motor/platform that has been out a few years and had the kinks ironed out rather then be the guinea pig owner of the 1st batch... but thats me

From what I understand the local Dodge dealership is run by a full staff of coke heads. I dont think i could let those guys do an oil change on my Neon. Or drive a car with that title for that matter. They look like a more phemenom version of a wrx.

i personally like the Sentra SE-R Spec-V. It has the same engine as the altima 2.5l, with 6 speed transmission. fits 4 adults comfortably and it's not as monsterous as the altima. It's pretty quick completely stock. i love it. It's a 4dr, has a rockford fosgate system stock ( i don't know much about systems and shit, but it does sound really good), comes with 17" rims, looks good outside and inside. well atleast, i know the '02 have a good interior. My interior is red with black on the seats. I can't explain it very well. but i think they changed the interior on the '03 spec v. not sure. anyways, that is all i can think of for now. oh yeah, the '02s have some engine problems (as does any 1st year model car) but to my knowledge they have been worked out in the '03 spec-v. You can get one brand new for around 17-18k.

I also recommend the mazda 6. They are sweet.

exactly what i was sayin... 1st batch glitches.... i bet the neon will be that way too, especially turbocharged. did you time that spec-v?

Becca

we took it to the track. but couldn't catch a good launch. It has lots of wheel hop, and lots of torque steer, but it's a good feeling. (I drive a civic, so this feels so much better) We have found if you baby the clutch coming into first, then punch it you can launch it much better than just trying to launch hard in first. you get used to the torque steer, gets easier to deal with.

I'm sure the neon will have similar first year production problems. But that's what recalls and warranties are for. :)

I would disagree. I am 6'3" and can fit well, although it's really not that spacious. the Maxima has hands down the best interior room. Just buy a used Max for 20K and be done with it. :D
