Tonight I want to buy all four speakers to my car and my head unit is running 180W to all four. My problem is that I need good sounding 6 1/2" speakers and I don't have a load to spend. A guy at Best Buy that I was talking to was saying that Jenson fired their designers of speakers and hired someone else. Well he stated that whoever they hired as their design team was great. He said that they had a test of the best Pioneer 3-Way, a Kenwood 3-way, and the new Jenson 3-way and hooked it up to an amp. A quarter of the volume up and both the Pioneer and Kenwood baffled. The Jenson took up to half-way of the volume and then the speaker reached it's limit. He said if it were up to him he would suggest the Jenson. The guy said that if he wanted to make money he would sell me a more expensive speaker but he wasn't going to do that. I just don't want to be the guinea pig and find out they suck. Any suggestions?:fight:

as far as I know...the guys at best buy aren't on commition...so it wouldn't matter what speaker he sold...but they might have like bonus check that go for something they have to "push"...jensen has been crap sence about 82...so I wouldn't believe him...the boston nx67 run 159.99 and I can get them for about half of that...they are the best coax speaker I have come across...lemme know if you would like me to pick you up two sets...

Shop around and listen to different speakers. That's the best way to see which ones you want to spend your money on.

Is this 180 watts coming from the headunit alone? I've never heard of any more than 12.5 CLEAN watts coming from any radio, but then agian I could be wrong.

Uh-oh Best Buy owns... I got the same pair that you are talking about for $ 49.99 plus tax. Pioneer 3-way on clearance. Best Buy is having a sale so I now have to find another pair at another Best Buy unless you can beat that price...:D
also something u might want to consider...45 watts from your head-unit is no where near as good as 45 watts from an amp..

yea, just have to look around, we are clearing out the '02 models and gettig the '03, we don't have any more of the old ones at the woodlands store.
and no, we don't get commition in any way, the only bonus anyone gets is the managers and suprivisors if the store sells alot and has good numbers. so basically us part-timers work so as to get them a bonus, ghey :-/ .

Right.... I'm not an idiot but I don't want to bump my system with the windows down and have a gangsta lean while I can barely look over the steering wheel. I just want it to sound better than my cracking speakers. You know what I mean. Really, I'd rather spend money on the car's performance than speakers but the speakers have got to that point to where it's like I hear "Cruising down the street in my *crackle crackle* Dropping tha *crackle* Robbin the hoe...." Well the back speakers are going to go tonight.

rear speakers?!?! hehe I don't believe in rear speakers. All I have are the front ones. No need for rear fill if the fronts are good enough sounding for the entire car.

I was thinking about that also... Hey SX GYRL 97 is it hard to take the door apart on our 240's?

So I replaced the rear speakers last night and they sound so good. I ended up having to take out the back seats because the screws fell underneath the seat. Then I had no wire splicers so it was a tedious process. Then it started to rain with all of my tools out and the seat in the driveway. So I had to get everything into my garage and then run inside to move my friends car. Then I tried to move my car and I lost my keys somewhere in the car. So I found my extra keys and moved the car, moved my friends car back and procceeded to mess with the car. Upon putting in the speakers I see these two metal things hanging from the ceiling of my trunk. They turn out to be 2 small Clarion amps. No wonder the stock speakers couldn't handle the power. I hooked up the speakers, put everything back in, and like I said they sound good. Does anyone know anything about those small Clarion amps? What they push?

Uh-oh something is wrong I think.... Something is rattling and I can't tell if it is the metal where the speakers were mounted or the speakers themselves. Do you think I mixed the wires up?

the wires carry an AC current...no mix'n them up...just wouldn't hint the midbass good if there were reversed...and if you are talk'n about the factory amps...maybe 15-20 watts?...

if you feel that you wired your speakers incorrectly. you can try this simple test.. turn off your radio, car, etc.. now go get a AA or AAA battery.. now wire connect the (-) side to one end of your speaker terminal and connect the (+) to the other side.. now if the speaker moves out or up.. then you have it in phase.. if it goes down then your speakers are in reverse phase..

Thanks alot... I'll try that out and reverse the wires tonight. The rattling was because it wasn't mounted down enough. But even my friend's say that the rear driver's side speaker just doesn't sound right. I didn't know the 240sx se came with amps...:roflmao:

I used to work at Best Buy, and if you wanna be smart, just get some homeboy who works there to get it for you. Do you know that employees there can get it for abotu half price? Or, you could just go through my homeboy who hooks me up for just a lil bit less. And don't get Jensen's. They really do suck.
