John what's the future plans of your car. I saw the beautiful 4AGZE in your engine bay... What's the plans? I'm the asian guy that was hanging with Bernard at his car... (with the black mohawk)

Anyways, what's the plan with that? How much power and what are the major work that is going to be done to your motor? ie. Turbo, Independent Fuel Controller, etc.

I can't wait to see you let that thing loose!

Matt.

You mean you did that to your hair on purpose? I thought you just had hat hair or something. ;) Just kidding, it was nice to meet you, Matt, as well as everyone else who showed up and talked to me about the car. I apologize because I'm terrible with names and faces (not to mention I couldn't hear much with the music blaring) so if I forget who you are don't be offended. Well, I had been keeping the project somewhat of a secret but since Alex asked me to bring the car to the show I guess it's not so much of a secret anymore.

As some of you may or may not know I crashed my red hatchback some months ago drifting the banks of Houston Motorsports Park. It might have been fixable but to be honest, I couldn't bring myself to spend $2000 to fix a car that I bought for $1500. Luckily, thanks to a couple of guys who were generous enough to donate an SR5 shell to me, I embarked on a new project car. My main problem was that I had outgrown the power that the stock motor could provide and decided to go with the supercharged version that was released in Japan in FWD configuration. This motor is advertised as making 170ps but I'm hoping to push out 200hp at the crank which is an extremely conservative number considering I will be bumping boost from 8 to 14 psi and all the other boltons like cams, intake, header and exhaust. It's not much but in a car that weighs less than 2000lbs it should be sufficient. Other than that the motor will be stock including the ECU. I'm hoping to have the car done by the end of October for the Grind event.

So are you going to compete in Formula D next season? And do you have any major sponsers?

Matt.

Hey Jason, thanks for the offer for the help but I'm not too far off from being done. The only major stuff left is wiring (which I have a specialist coming from Austin to do) and IC piping which Lightspeed will probably take care of.

Matt, I am 100% privateering next season. It'd be nice to have sponsors but the car is pretty much done so they really wouldn't do much for me right now unless they were to pay for travel expenses. The only sponsor I would really like is a tire sponsor but since I run a Corolla tires are not too expensive.

And no, no community service here.

What may I ask is this front wheel drive vehicle as the only motor I know it being from would be an MR2 in America and a Levin overseas. If memory serves me right Levins came FWD but I'm rusty. Sounds like a fun buildup similar to what I was looking to do a few years ago. Just some useful stuff for you if interested. www.ATSRacing.net

It is from the AE101 chassis which, I believe, is a Levin. It differs from the American version of the supercharged motor slightly but is pretty much the same. The major difference is in power which is due to the higher compression of the newer motor.
