im looking to move down there soon (bay area blvd area) and im trying to decide between dsl or cable.
i have dsl now, and the speed isnt all that great, but i have good pings. and ping is all i care about.
well.. the important part is availability, but im 95% sure they are both down there (i am in the SE corner of pasadena now and we have both).
so, any experiences ?

Roadrunner's pings are really shotty.. It can be great one moment and crappy the next.. It does have awesome bandwidth for downloads though.. It's your call..

You can always upgrade the dsl and get 1.5mbps up and down. It's faster but cost more than cable.

How much is it? I don't mind paying a bit more for some stable performance..

i have Earthlink cable and it had the nighttime lag a couple days into its first week having it (dunno why, i was the first one in my neighborhood to have it) but after that it has never lagged

i have roadrunner and it seems to work perfectly all the time. when i first got it, it would lag like hell at certain times like once every 2 days or so, got annoying. but after a week or so it stopped.
ive had RR for almost a year. i recommend it.

yall have that 35$ new subsriber thing ?
i saw that on SWB site couple days ago.
what sux though is i dont want a phone line. i could give a shit less about the phone. but dsl costs more w/o the line.
i want cable cuz i gotta have my cable TV, but cabel is shared and from what ive heard the connection can get pretty shitty over prime time
i dunno yet....

shouldve called me :p
we have 21.95 for the 1st 3 months on both DSL and Cable, then Cable = 41.95 no contract, DSl = 49.95 1 year contract.
Dsl is a 1.5MB dl
cable is a 2 mb dl

well, i dont have an apartment yet, wouldnt do much good to call you :hit: :angel2:
and that comes out to the pretty much the same price per year as SWB w/o having to do a contract (for dsl).
but, like i said. my main concern is ping for gaming. need to do more research on that first. id like cable cuz a phone line is useless to me, and if the pings are good ill jump on it.
how long are yall doing that 3 month special ?
im going down their tomorrow to look at the apartments in person. should have one soon
