Anyone think there will be panic buys after Vegas?

Some of the pics are coming out, looks like he really liked Daniel defense. One of them had one of those bump fire stocks but the rate of fire heard on videos sounded like and actual auto... weird.

Believe it or not, I carry that one pretty often. Carry rotation pretty much goes G19, G19, G19, G19, and from time to time my Shield or M&P compact. Different G19 for most weekdays, Shield or m&p for weekends.

I also built up my 22LR recently.

I'm starting to realize I have too many guns and I decided I'm going to sell a good bit of my collection to buy a Viper.

I had a buddy looking to see what combo barrel, handguard and suppressor would get the closest fitment, while still being able to actuate the release tab on the suppressor. So I showed him my 9 inch 300 BLK.

i picked up a Benelli M4 for 1400 right before the shooting and im getting offers of over 2k already from friends and family. I LOVE the gun but i think i might let it go if i can get 2400 for it and then just buy another one later on down the road once prices start to go back down. People are listing them for crazy amounts on gunbroker already.

Nice, was joking that the other glocks are all done up with their RMRs and fancy racegun parts, and the gray one seems so plain and stock - "khakis."

My carry rotation goes G23, G23, G23 and used to go G19, G19, G19 with the occasional 1911 sprinkled in to spice it up, so I get it. One of these days I will test the G43 out with carry ammo and figure out a holster for it, but for now it's just a cute little bitty toy. :D

Oh and benelli M4s are super nice, really smooth dampened cycling and great to shoot. It's a real pinkies up high-class semi, especially coming from the Saigas I like to screw around with.

Benny
10-18-2017, 08:40 AM
I'd say a little of both. It works as a home defense weapon, without being overly large/long. But, it cant be as easily aimed as your typical shoulder fired shotgun. But when you really think about it, if you had to shoot someone in your house, its not gonna be a far distance. I was trying to find the legality of putting a pistol grip and something like a SB Tactical M4 brace on it or something to make it more "fun". I havent had a chance to shoot the mini shells yet, but from what i saw and read they are g2g.

Question for you all, I have been looking for a gun for my daughter. She is only a teen in high school. My wife and I have to work and that leaves my daughter alone at home for almost an hour before and after school. Lately, there has been a bit of a crime increase in our neighborhood and it mostly consisted of petty things but on Monday one our neighbors had people go in their house while they slept and rob them.

I have firearms but she finds the Ars and shotgun heavy and is recoil sensitive on the pistols (she is a teen and weighs 100 pounds). Was I thinking a 20 gauge shotgun maybe? I don't think 22 is enough but maybe out of a rifle length barrel? Maybe a 380 pistol?

Would appreciate any advice or if anyone has been in this situation and how it was resolved.

Forgot to add we have 2 dogs and alarm. The alarm will let her know something is going on and the German Shepherd will react, the husky might watch and go back to sleep.

Benny
10-19-2017, 08:24 AM
Maybe she can try something in .22 magnum? I tried to get my wife to use something in 9mm but she says .380 is much more manageable for her so she uses a Sig P238. You could also just let her practice/train with a 9mm to get comfortable with it, which would probably be the best option since she will likely need to train anyhow.

You should move.

Seriously though, I'd be apprehensive about buying a teenager a firearm if they don't have any experience. Even if she does, the last thing you want to get them is anything automatic, as in a time of high stress there are too many things to go wrong on those. I'd personally make a safe room in a closet of the house before advising her to grab a firearm and confront an intruder (not that you would). If you're dead set on buying her something, I'd buy a pump action 20ga or 410ga, leaving the stock on it so she can shoot it from the hip. Pull the plug, load it with heavy shot, or buck.

With regards to the safe room, you figure out which closet you want to make it in, pull the door and buy a solid core door with a metal frame. You want the door to swing out so it's harder for someone from the outside to get in, I.E. if they're kicking it they're kicking against the frame. Add deadbolts or heavy duty hardware, then put the shotgun in there.

hmmm, didn't think of a 22 mag

LOL I will in a few years. It is a nice neighborhood except for these teens messing with cars every once in a while and now this break-in.

Damn that panic room idea is awesome, thanks a lot. I will do that this weekend before I decide on a gun. I was thinking same 20ga but 410 sounds good too

Thanks for advice guys

It felt good, i was using it with the glock DOT connector, so it wasn't light, wasn't too heavy on the pull. I polished it all up by hand so it was fairly smooth. I will be using the Agency trigger in my polymer80 17 build but will probably run a ghost edge connector this time around.

I have one on my Glock 19 P80 build, only cause i have a lightened slide though, so i could reduce the weight of the recoil spring to 15lbs.

Here are my my 2 P80 builds, Glock 19 on bottom with 17 on top. I swapped my TLR-1 onto the 17 and am debating on if i should run another TLR-1 on the 19 or go with the inforce apl-c for it.

Benny
11-28-2017, 11:10 PM
Pretty sure unless you have something to mold/shape it you will ruin the kydex. Retention on a pistol without light is on the trigger guard. Retention on a pistol with a light is on the light itself mainly.

Any opinions on streamlight TLR6 for the G43?

I don't carry my G43 currently and would only occasionally pocket carry it when my usual G19/23 is too much. Been looking at the desantis superfly pocket holster and they offer it for G43 with or without the TLR6. Either way it's a blocky pouch type thing, so I'm thinking I might as well have a gun and a light in it....

On the other hand, it's a dinky little light that wouldn't do shit compared to a TLR1S or a handheld 2-cell tac light.... so I'm wondering if it's even worth bothering. My normal EDC does not include a weapon light.

And I think the laser is stupid. :)

Benny
12-08-2017, 02:28 PM
I had been contemplating putting a TLR6 on my shield, but then i would have to buy all new holsters for it, seems like a weapon light is kind of overkill unless you are in very dark areas all the time, in which case you would probably benefit from a good light on its own anyhow.

I have been carrying my Glock 17 with the TLR1 HL on it a lot lately, but thats cause the IWB holster i have works for both my 17 and 19. I usually carry my shield AWIB most days since i dont go out at night much anyhow.

I have a TLR1S but don't carry it, as none of my holsters fit it. G19 or G23 rides in a comp-tac CTAC (tuckable IWB). Guess I might get a CTAC that fits with the light at some point. For OWB open carry I have a Serpa which is not offered for any lights but blackhawk's crappy tac light (terrible!).

I don't have any holsters yet for the G43 so I guess the question is, is the TLR6 a worthwhile buy, or should I just buy a superfly for G43 without light, and move on.

How about a surefire XC1. It won't add length to your G19.

Whelp, my question was about the G43 and TLR6, lol... at this point I'm leaning toward just getting a pocket holster for G43 (without light)... got better things to spend the money on.

On the G23 ... kinda doubt I would carry a mounted light IWB the more I think about it. I bought the TLR1S because I got a crazy deal on it from primary arms, but it's not an EDC item.

It would be nice if there was a serpa available for other-than-blackhawk lights (because their light sucks but I like the holster's release mechanics). Guess they couldn't figure out how to move the retention point down to the light but keep the same release button location. Shrugs.

Why not just buy another brand kydex holster for your tlr1? I mean, the retention is on the light, not the trigger guard, You can get something like a bravo concealment holster for fairly cheap... IWB or OWB. That or do you wanna sell your TLR1 for cheap? lol

I probably wasn't clear about the TLR1 thing since my original question was about the TLR6 for the G43... but I mentioned it, so...

IWB/concealed, like you said I could get any number of kydex options to fit G23 with TLR1 (but I like comp-tac so they get the nod). The light adds a lot more bulk to shove down the pantaloons, though, so I'm not sold on it even being worth buying a holster for.

OWB/open, I won't go below level 2 retention, just my preference. I'm not a fan of thumb breaks added onto level 1 holsters to make a "level 2", so that leaves duty style retention holsters. I am already proficient with drawing from the serpa L2, but it is not available to fit the TLR1. I would have to change to & learn a different retention lock to mount the TLR1. Most of them seem to be thumb-driven hood release, instead of the index finger lock on the serpa, with passive retention on the weapon light.

But for real doe, anybody got opinions/experience with the TLR6?

I don't necessarily want or need. The TLR6 doesn't seem to add much if any size to the pocket-holstered G43 package, thus the intrigue.

and the holster I'm thinking of getting(desantis superfly) without and with light:

I'd pass on the holster entirely and get a techna clip. I have one on my LC9 w/ crimson trace and much prefer it to the holster I have. https://www.amazon.com/Techna-Clip-Glock-Conceal-Ambidextrous/dp/B015OZGSCE

I will say that it doesn't mount on the slide on my LC9, which is different for the GlockAK

Yup, no manuel safety so I have to cover the trigger guard.

This is an option too (without light): https://www.ebay.com/itm/BORAII-Eagle-Pocket-Holster-for-GLOCK-43/253239560218?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Have had or have a TLR 6 on a Glock 26, 43, Sig P938, and S&W Shield. Solid little light, great battery life, feels firm on the gun, and a few holster makers make holsters to accommodate it.

Ran the Roni over the weekend.... Holy cow does it make a glock group tight....

And as far as the school shooting, they will try to spin it to make it harder for us to buy guns. Yet at the same time, he was only 19 and not even old enough to buy a gun. So he either stole it (from a random or a family member) or was a private person sale which I'm not sure what FL laws are on that. He was also expelled from that school, so he wasn't a prime example of a law abiding person.

FL gun laws are much like TX. You only need to be 18 to legally buy a rifle. But, yes MSM and politicians will spin this into another attempt to ban all the scary rifles that kill millions of children a day.

So it turns out this supposed "pro 2a" president isnt so pro 2a afterall... ban on bump stocks is going to be a very slippery slope.

Two ways to look at it. The bump stock is a gimmick and honestly who cars that it's gone. But we keep all of our real gun rights.

Or he backed down on a 2a topic and that means we are not safe.

I prefer the first way of thinking about it. There's too many things that are made literally just to circumvent a regulation (whether or not that regulation is constitutional or not is not up for discussion, it's in place currently).

Harry-DC

If they ban bump stocks what will are bump stock owners supposed to do with the ones that are in their hands

dantheman
02-22-2018, 08:58 AM
i honestly dont care much about the bumpstock. i think it was designed to circumvent current laws on a technicality. both sides have to give a little bit and feel like they are winning or no deals will get made.

if they ban the bumpstock the left is going to claim victory against gun nuts and feel they have done the best thing thats happened in ages! those of us who are pro gun know that its a fraction of a percent of owners who have them and they are, lets face it, gimmicky toys to show off with your friends. losing the bumpstock doesnt stop anyone from enjoying guns in legal ways.

the right way to do this is to ban the sale/manufacture of bumpstocks and ask for a voluntary buyback of those in the hands of the public. its not illegal to OWN one but its illegal to sell or manufacture them past whatever date. left gets their victory, they can pound their chests that they WON!!!! and the right will piss and moan about rights this and rights that but the actual people who like guns will be sitting here going "well who cares about that, ive still got my GUN which is the important part."
