Since drifting is becoming more popular, there alot of people going out and buying FR's and think they can drift like "Dorikin". Anyways I'm not trying to call anyone that's getting into drifting now a poser. But some people don't know what there doing, here's an example. There was a 19 year old guy that watched Initial D and bought "The Drift Bible" so he took his dad's G35 out and tried to drift a sharp L turn and wrecked the rear end by hitting a stone mailbox. He wasn't hurt, until his dad found out :roflmao:
I've been into drifting for about 4 years know, and I still don't know everything. I learned in my brothers girlfriends S2000(Don't Ask)
Just make sure you do it in a Large area if your inexperienced.

In order for this sport to grow there needs to be more tolerance in accepting people who are interested in drifting. Just because someone goes out and buys a RWD car it does not automatically mean they are 'posers'. Many of them simply got interested in drifting and wanted to try it out for themselves and we need to welcome these people.

I got into drifting 4 years ago I didn't say I started four years ago.

And my mainpoint was to tell people to be careful if there Inexperienced

I get the idea of what Oni- is trying to say, but really the people he is really referring to are those that drift well (on NFSU) and are old school cuz they have watched some vids and learned some lingo. Its not worth the breath or thought to even acknowledge "online" driftas... and to those that actually do own a RWD and come out to the track and try; They should be welcomed and not excluded because they don't have the knowledge base or experience (its all about fun); and even if some of the new guys start claiming to be the shiznit with mad dori skills... its cheap entertainment for most of us; and easily ignored-

Drifting started in Japan, It should stay in Japan, anyone who drifts here is posing off of Japan...We are posers...Japan is not...They started it, and we copied it... If you want to get technical.

Drifting dumbass's would be a more appropriate title.

So if I lived in Japan and started drifting over there, then moved back to the States and still loved drifting and wanted to continue it.. I'm a poser because I'm not in Japan anymore?.. So are Tattooist tattooing Japanese style tattoos are they posers? When I lived in Japan there were local japanese guys that would drive S13s, Cefiros, Laurels.. popular drift cars etc. with extreme front camber (unusable due to limited contact patch), Fake front mount intercoolers (really- not hooked to anything), scratched up front lips, with tons of team stickers that NEVER drifted and was for purely meant for style... but since these guys lived in Japan... I guess they're not posers.
:eyesjack:

Posers are everywhere. maybe we're all posers.. :whocares:
America is the melting pot for all cultures. Get used to it.

Honestly I'll tell you what I THINK is a poser.

People that state they love to drift but never go out and drift at any meets. Some might argue that I like to drift on the street where it started. Well the Japanese have years on us. They also drift on tracks. You can't get the skills to compete at drifting or get good for that matter on the streets if you're a noob. Advanced folks probably yes but there's not many in Houston.

If you guys have ever been to any meet whether DailyDrift/Drift Day/or any other meet you find out that all the drivers are cool with each other no matter if you're a noob or not.

Heck we have older guys in old school T-Birds going out there and people cheer them on. So there should be no excuses if you're into drifting unless you're a poser. Heck build a show car make it look like a drifter but don't go around bragging your a drifter for years when you never make it to a track and practice.

A drifting poser? How exactly does one tell a drifter and a poser apart? They're both the ones who aren't racing. :D

well in your short mind im sure that you would not get the point.. because of this i will explain.. he took the drifters out of context so i did the same by callin out the x/b not the civic. The civic is a drag car as in a race car.. My car is a drift car as in a DRIFT car.. the x/b well its not much of anything.. Does that help you a little or are you just to slow in the head to understand.. well is so then maybe you should stay out of the drift thread, Maybe thats what makes you a poser, you just dont know your place. Be sure that its not here..

people can say what they want anddo what they want i think theres 2 different points in this thread one which is about drift posers and the other being, teaching people to avoid drifting on the street and giving drifting a bad name..go to events they're worth it and the people u meet will help u out time and time again

only guy in here to spell poseur right.

and i dont think that just cuz u dont go to the meets to drift, your a poser. to me drifting is like crack. and crackheads dont wait till the end of the month to get a fix. or even till the end of the week. before my beloved s14 died i was out damn near every night. i made it to some meets but half the time i didnt have the time or money to go way far away to drift. i have my own spots that worked fine. it sucks though cuz i havent been sideways in 2 weeks......so if any one wants to meet me somewhere, i got these cheeeseburgers man

first things first, drifting if posing off rally cars, rally cars drifted first so did flat track racers *roundy round on a dirt course that started here in the states* so drift control is not a japan thing its a world thing, seconed lets talk about these *posers* you speak of, when the streets were wet about 2 years ago i would take my *stock* ford ranger and have an ass out good time now this was not a 4 wheel drift *it was one time and i thought i was gonna die* but it thought me alot about controling my truck at the limit, and why are there always a few dicks in every bunch drifting, drag racing, auto crossing, ive started auto crossing cuz well i cant drift my honda, so i run the back roads near my house i have gone up aginst cars on the twisties and played chase, so i guess im a poser for running the closest thing to a touge that i have, lets face it every one is copying some one elses style, but for those few that create something theres and theres alone and then some one else uses it, it shows that it works just like the racers in japan on the touges did when they relized that hey the rally drivers do it and there faster by doing it, so let me try and it worked for them so dude lay off and let others learn :gtfo:

You are a poser, I do not know you nor do I care to. Just drop the whole "I am the king of all drifters because I lived in Japan and have a Japanese WIFE BS" just drop it. :dunno:
I wouldn't say I'm a "dorifto specialist", but I've done it before. I have modified my car accordingly as well (except the posi....seem to do bwetter without it...dunno why).
All the poser talk is just lame. When I was younger and skated alot, i had people call me a poser for that...THEY were the ones with the new DC's, fresh decks, shiny Trucks and fresh griptape...... My trucks had an arch worn over the axles a 1/4" deep, and they called ME a poser????
Maybe it's a bad example for anyone who didn't or doesn't skate, but it's the same in the "enthusiast" world. The guy with bald tires and a ghetto old FR car has more cred to me than the guy with the Turbo'd S13, with all the high dollar BS....BUT...he may be able to back up his claims...CAN'T TELL ON THE INTERWEB... :-/
