Building a drift car....

what do you do when you get 3 car nuts and techs and a old broken down 1986 Nissan 200SX.... a DRIFT CAR!
No pics yet, but so far we striped the interior, and started to get this motor to run.
will be completely SUPER LOW budget, ghetto and gay. but it wil be fun and make some people do this... :wtf: :2cooleek: :eek3: :eek3: :eek3: :eek3: :eek3: :eek3dance :eek3dance

i love driving cars like this. I feel like im more able to drive recklessly if I'm not worried about the extierior of the car(dents, scratches, missing bumpers)

Definately running by this weekend. Car has had 2 owners, previous one bought car back in 93, was an old UTI grad from back in the day, owns own business and is doing well. The car was a stand by car for his shop, but now he has another one. So I picked it up. Once we are done with the car, it's going to be sweet looking. But for now, we've been to busy to start doing work on it. The chasis has never been wrecked and still has original factory paint along with door plaque that is still riveted and no signs of masking or any bondo on the car at all. Pics will come this weekend. Oh I'm the owner of the car, have title and it's at my apartment complex, but it's for ppl to share and such, really haven't sunk that much money into it, maybe the cost of 1 new tire for the MR2.

Thought about that...and yes that engine is kick ass, but BOV sound attracts more attention, and that is what this car is all about. Not many ppl see 200SXs on the roads that will look like ours. Eruebuni (Sp) has a kit that looks sweet, we'll have to see what we can come up with. Since the front bumper is flat on the top, I might be able to get an AE86 front bumper and custom fit it at a body shop. Who knows, all I know is, if I get the car running this weekend, I'll be happy.

What happeneded was that the e-brake cable seized, I want to get some newer ones or something fabbed for a steel braided cable that we can replace if we break or something, but who knows what we'll do.

Come on by tomorrow after class. On3Go might be working on it. You'll want in on it as well. I have a lot of info on parts to get from various other Nissan cars. S13 front suspension conversion, Z32 brakes for the front, custom e-brake cables that can withstand repeated abuse, and also custom end links that are beefier and can withstand lots of harsh treatment. The stock rear sway is 24mm... Now I just have to find a stiffer one, or a larger one.

Mike, only thing you need for a drift car is a running car with RWD. Just to prove it, look at the guy with the el camino winning drift competitions.

I'm the one basically deciding what to put on the car, but I'm open to suggestions and such. Team effort here. I'll consider everything, but I'm aying for most of the stuff on the car.

lots of stickers and website addresses plastered on the car, only ones that end with co.jp, an 8.5" wide wheel with 215 series tires. and lots of negative camber :thumb:
